IIHF World ChampionshipDiscuss International Tournaments like the WJC, Olympics, and World Cup, as they take place, or discuss past tournaments. performances.
Everyone of your teams will have handfuls of players with Canadian parents. I'm sure they respect what the great white north has offered to them....birth.
I mean this lightheartedly, seriously.
Good job on the win. Soak it in. The future Jrs and Olympics are getting better and better, with the talent all these countries are producing.
I am not making the argument that you should win by a blowout. What I am saying is that you have half a million players and that beating the opposition such as Russia and Sweden by 4-5 times is a healthy number.
That's a far cry from saying China should win the world cup for a variety of reasons. US actually care about hockey, US is a "normal" country where people don't have to work out in the fields in order to survive etc.
Cograts to the USA!!!! And to all countries. This is only the 2nd time I've watched the tourney and I enjoyed every game. I haven't seen the last two games but I'll watch tonight.
Come on now, guys. It was a great tourney. Let's not make this country vs. country for the sake of arguing. That's not what this thread is about. If you continue, you will be removed from this board and international discussion period and given an infraction.
Congrats to the Americans, you guys really turned it up after that loss to the Canadians in RR (even though you guys were playing fairly well up til that point).
Sorry to the Swedes, only saw the highlights but looked like you guys were in it for most of the game. Was cheering for you guys, not just because I wanted the US to lose but I wanted to see a repeat again.
Also, since the Canada/Russia PGT is closed, congrats to the Russians as well.
If the Swedes had 2 of Zibanejad/Brodin/Klefbom/Lindholm, I think they would have won gold.
If they had all four, their team would have been much stronger on paper, but who knows what would have happened in real life. Canada was insane on paper, stacked with guys who would have had a great shot to make their NHL teams if it wasn't for the lockout (RNH, Huberdeau, Strome, Schiefele, Hamilton, etc.), and we didn't even win a medal. It's really impossible to say what would happen if you changed players.
Talk about what would have happened if xyz would have been there is disrespectful to the winners and cheap talk since there is no way of knowing how that would have turned out.
