"Anticipation is buzzing!"

"Depends on the size of the issue and what movement we see"

Holy pathetic, batman. Give it up, Dreger. You're awful to look at on camera, your accent hurts my brain, and your nose needs a job.

It's amazing to me that so many people who have spent this entire lockout on HF, like myself, allow themselves to get their hopes up after all we've seen and knowing how these two sides operate.

What are you talking about? Asking the players to speak for themselves and not through a mouthpiece is "eroding their position"?

They walked away from the table as soon as Fehr demanded back in the room.

A handful of big sources saying it's close. Just revel in the excitement. I mean, I know you've never won a cup, but in 48 games, you never know

I kid, lighten up.

I still feel the same way as I've felt since mid December.

There will be no NHL hockey this season.

All the cute little twitter crap through this lockout hasn't changed my mind. I'll believe there's a deal when I see Bettman stand at a podium and announce the starting date.

we follow the lockout negotiations like we would be following a potential grab of a big name free agent or major trade.

I have to admit, even though I don't actually want it to happen and I'm dying for some hockey, I would laugh a little if Bettman came out and hand another meltdown press conference right now.

Some curmudgeons still think NHL may be setting people up for disappointment, to blame it all on Fehr if somehow deal falls thru again

They eroded their position by getting them to agree to contract terms, a contract variance and other concessions and then walked away.

If they really wanted to get a deal done why did they do that and wait a week or two to make another offer? You know, the same offer that spurred these negotiations?

And if you're serious about avoiding a lockout, why not make that offer to save a full season instead of the insults they made earlier?

You've got it all wrong. It wouldn't get a lot of US coverage in any case, except if NBC has a opportunity with which they can try to boost one of their own products. Which they do - tonight's Wild Card game is on NBC.

If there's a happy announcement to be made today, it WILL get mentioned in the NBC NFL broadcast tonight, and will reach a lot more ears in the US than if an agreement was reached on any random idle day.
