I love when people say things like this. "Well it could go this way or it could go this way. Either way, what I'm saying is important for some reason". Thank god he shared that vital info with us.

That would likely tell us that they weren't as close as they led us to believe.

DOI seems to have a really positive impact on negotiations... I guess the league is taking it seriously.

If a deal goes down, it goes down beyond 6 pm. Why?

Last time around, the owners negotiated in good faith with the disclaimer looming. Once the union didn't file, the NHL reverted back to tricks.

Disclaimer vote ends at 6 pm. In which union can go ahead with disclaimer.

Union will not believe NHL will negotiate in good faith past this time.

Therefore, logic tells me we have a deal by 5 PM.

I should run for president.

That actually makes a lot of sense. I forgot NBC has today's games.

Wow, I think you need to lighten up a bit. It was a harmless joke. I thought the "I don't actually want it and I'm dying for hockey" bit was the giveaway.

If they really wanted to get a deal done why did they do that and wait a week or two to make another offer? You know, the same offer that spurred these negotiations?

And if you're serious about avoiding a lockout, why not make that offer to save a season instead of the insults they made earlier?
Because they had to modify their offer based on the information they obtained in the meetings.

Are you suggesting they should have immediately offered an identical proposal, the one that was originally not accepted by the PA?

This. NBC needs all the NHL ratings they can get. Deal get announced tonight while millions are watching Green Bay? Sold.

2) If your favorite team wins the Stanley Cup and you are in attendance, will you cheer louder when your captain hoists the cup (or any other player) or when your owner hoists the cup on the bench?

Just curious.
I'm not sure the point of your questions especially the first one. To answer the first I'd prefer my team make the playoffs and have a best season financially. Number two I would cheer for both quite frankly.

And hatred is too strong of a word for me in this situation. I have a tendency to reserve that word for wars, murders, you know stuff like that. But yes.......I have lost respect for certain players without a doubt. My biggest beef is with Fehr and how he's led the group closer to a cliff. Some players I've gained respect for too. I've never been a Crosby fan but since the owner / player meeting he's taken a back seat almost seemingly out of respect for his owner.

makes absolutely no sense what so ever, because after 6pm is when the players can official file for disclaimer. so it would be before 6pm the nhl would dig there heels into the issues, but once it is past 6 when the votes have been tallied the nhl would have a serious chance of the nhlpa actually filing for disclaimer.

The only thing we heard about " back to old tricks" by the league was by players crying on twitter and in news stories about an issue that was not only resolved but an issue the nhlpa knew about for a week. Bogus

Some of these tweets are funny...

"Very close, deal could be done as early as today, but still far apart on some issues and doi could be filed any day now"

Is this journalism?
