Start your franchise with Yakupov or Couturier?

You are a GM and get to select one, which player do you select?

I realize one is a center and one is a winger, some believe it's the main factor for their own reasons, here we go

No need to argue, we all have our own opinions and I want to know yours.

Give me couturier, very close though... Yakupov has much higher ceiling while I see couturier being a winner, like a Bergeron type do it all player. Yak has more bust potential. And like you said, you unil teams around centers.

Couturier.

Yakupov seems limited to rush offense.

If given the chances offensively I think Couturier could be a Toews clone and I value that higher than a small, offense only winger.

The fact that I dont know who "Crosby" is in your analogy hints that this is far off... Is pretty much an even poll IMO.

Yakupovs ceiling is way too high to not take him considering they're both, generally speaking, unknowns at this point.

Hard to say because we haven't seen what Yakupov can do in the NHL. But I'll go with Couturier, he's a beast.

Yakupov AINEC.

I expect him to be Kovalchuk-lite, while Couturier will be Jordan Staal-lite.

Or Toews lite. Toews lite > Kovalchuk lite.

Couturier has 60-70 point and Selke potential.

I'd take Kovalchuk over Toews, but I might be in the minority in this one.

If you want to use absolute ceilings then Yakupovs is that of a 50 goal scorer and I take a 50 goal scorer over the player you just described.

No. Kesler had 40 goals and 70+ points.

Toews > Kovalchuk. Negligible difference offensively. Not so negligible defensively.

Well, he doesn't have 50 goal potential.

There were two 50 goal scorers last year..... I think it would be more appropritate to call him a potential 40 guy.

If yakupov has 50 goal potential, then couturier has a significantly higher offensive ceiling than 60-70 points, IMO.

I'll take Couturier because of his superior two-way play. I also think he is better suited to making his teammates better. Yakupov is incredibly dynamic, but from the little I've seen(highlights and WJC), he's a bit of a one-man band.

Toews is my fav player but to call the offensive advantage that kovy has over him " negligible" is a bit unfair... But overall I do prefer Toews

hmm I feel Couturier will certainly pass Jordan Staal.. Let alone a Staal-Lite.... Lol I see him more like an Eric/Jordan mix... May not be quite as good defensively as Jordan but it will be close and not quite as good as Eric offensively but close
