The more I hear the players whisper that next Friday isn't a 'real' deadline, the more I want to see them try to stare down Bettman, and Bettman giving a one-finger salute and saying season over.

If we lose a whole season I can easily see myself losing interest when it finally returns. Having to live through a whole no season will help do that. Actually having to live through two no seasons in 8 years. I was still a die hard in 05, and I still am now, and still will be next year. Though I can easily see myself not craving hockey anymore by next month. I'm craving it right now, but by February I think I'll care a whole lot less.

My sadness will have subsided. Sadly it will not have for the hundreds of everyday people affected by this who make a living. Not the players either, but the little guys. Team employees, the guys who make the nachos, and pour the beer, etc.

The league wouldn't let it go without an appeal, I think.

Exactly. How is this time going to be different than the other people who have tried and failed to melt their icy hearts before?

It's over. To resume tomorrow, apparently.

@TGfireandice: Will be same situation tomorrow as today -- at least to start the day. No full committee meeting scheduled at this time.

Twelve hours of mediation and apparently resuming again tomorrow morning, a plus. Especially with no leaks as to what's been talked about. I guess as long as we can keep Bettman, Fehr and his angry little mob of players out of the same room we're golden

I'm not sure they were in the same room though? Wasn't it seperate meetings? Like they met with the league first, and then the PA, or vice versa?

That's what I mean...they're better off not being in the same room obviously

Especially with Fehr always needing to bring his contingent of players with him. For all I care they can agree to a CBA through the mediator and get him to witness Bettman and Fehr signing in seperate rooms

Fehr probably needed a nice bathroom, and water break too! A bunch of them.

Kinda makes you wonder if they met consecutively or how much time was missed with his antics haha.

TG had a hilarious tweet earlier. Said both sides could speed up the process by distributing some of the Make Whole money to get the mediator a Segway.

Thanks for clearing that up for me! I was wondering what that was about. Didn't realize it was one of his ball breaking remarks! He is quite funny sometimes on there though.

God bless this mediator. Probably feels like he's dealing with 4 year olds "But he started it!"

Not understanding all the optimism today. Don't think there will be a deal done but I'd love to see it.

Nick Kypreos

@RealKyper

Source "tentative deal could be done within 24 hrs or #NHLPA could serve #NHL notice to disclaim early as 2day. Present meeting is huge.

John Shannon @JSportsnet

Told the pension issue was resolved a while ago. For all you Actuaries....it will be a Defined Benefits pension, funded by the players.

@Ledger_NJDevils: One Devils player: "I'm hearing (lockout is over). I'm ready to go, but I'll believe it when I see it... I'm just waiting for the call."

As great as Doc's call was, the CBC feed had a ton of better camera shots after the goal

I remember when I was watching that, just waiting for the whistle to blow. Couldn't believe it wasn't. But then when watching the replay I understood. Just got up and starting running haha. So awesome. Still watch that goal a lot.

And CBC has awesome angles. Always wish NBC would follow their footsteps in that regard.

I was behind the net on the other side of the ice upstairs (see below), and I also was afraid it was going to either get called off or reviewed because it was tough to see from where I was if the puck was covered or moving, but I just kept celebrating and fortunately the puck was always loose.....I also thought Kovy put it in, it all just happened so quick
