I'm not sure how anyone can still blame the PA when it's become quite clear that this is the first time the league has been willing Negotiate in a serious manner, they had an internal deadline set and are finally acting in good faith. Hey, when one side is the only one make concessions based on precedent you'd think figuring out how much concede would be a much simpler task.

It was NHLPA that refused to negotiate in serious manner

The NHL even used players statements against the NHLPA in court filings that show NHLPA has not negotiated in good faith

That doesn't prove a thing an you know it, if you were privy to the owner's internal discussion I'm more than confident you could find a mountain of bad faith, don't even pretend this is the PA's deadline.

who cares? Both sides ****ed it up and we - the guys that pay them in the end - lost a half season.

Welcome back NHL. Now we can start with the trade Kane, Bowman sucks, Stalberg is bad and Krüger wouldn't even be in the AHL Top6 talks begin again.

@RealKyper: Cap # for 2013-14 season closing in. Confirmed #NHL offer up to 62.5M. Some suggest #NHLPA might settle at 64.3M which is last yrs Cap hit

We'd be a shade over that.

I'm confused about something - the $60M or $62.5M or $64.3M or whatever is finally agreed upon in the new CBA - is that for for this season (2012/13 pro-rated) or next season (2013/14)? And when do the one player or two player buyouts happen?

My understanding is the answer to both is 13/14. They won't have time to make any cap cuts this year...if a deal happens they'll want to be playing in a week or so.

NHL CBA talks started more than 12 hours ago. No reason to think its going to end soon.

Yes, that is why the owners tried to start negotiations 2 years ago.

Both sides are at fault.

The players have acted badly, attacking Bettman and the league and going about this thing the wrong way.

The NHL instead of letting it slip, reacted in kind.

So instead of 2 mature groups meeting about what to do, it's 2 kids arguing over who started it and whose toy it really is. And it's ruined my respect for both sides. Where the NFL lockout didn't effect the season and the NBA lockout ended quickly and with much less bickering, name calling and stupidity, it's sad that the NHL and it's players are nothing more then spoiled brats crying over spilled milk all the while lying to us fans telling us they care about us. Really? Then why have both of you at times worked harder to not get anything done then to get something done, why have both of you played mind games and used the media to try and spread your agenda, why are both of you more worried about hurting the other then doing well yourself.

It's pathetic and sad, when the US Government can take a matter of days to pass a bill to avoid a fiscal cliff that would have effected everyone the NHL and the players are still bickering months later how to spend our money.

F THEM BOTH!

I'm actually too pissed to care. Great now their back to getting our money and still not caring about us. Can't wait till 8 years from now when one of them opts out and we go through this all over again.

@DarrenDreger: Draft lottery will change. All 14 teams fully eligible for 1st pick overall. Weighting system may remain, but 4-move restriction out.

So this means even when they finish 19 and not 29th the Oilers will still get the first pick, I mean can get the first pick, GREAT!

I'm just happy we can stop arguing over owner player crap and I can tell people how clearly wrong they are about things ON the ice.
