Niskanen was one of our best D lat year, I honestly think overall he is a little better

Neither of these guys has done anything to really impress me.

I have seen Niskanen more than Gunnarsson and I have seen him be much worse than I have seen Gunnarsson be. That was mostly in Dallas, but he hasn't impressed me at all in Pittsburgh either.

I guess I am going with Gunnarsson.

2 players that I think fans of their teams like a lot more than the rest of us.

That's not saying much, you had a few guys with really bad seasons.

Gunnarsson without hesitation.

Carl Gunnarsson looked good playing top pairing minutes, he did about as much as you could ask for a defensive defensemen. He's not Brent Seabrook but I think he surprised even his biggest supporters with his play, certainly one of the bright spots of the Leafs 2011-2012 season.

And your comment really doesn't elaborate on Niskanen. This about Niskanen, not a few guys (Martin & Orpik) with really bad seasons.

Carl Gunnarsson because during a lot of Leafs games he doesn't make a lot of mistakes and can play on their top Defense paring with Phaneuf.
