Fair enough and I understand what your saying but......

TSNBobMcKenzie 1:50pm via Twitter for BlackBerry® 3 things to remember: 1. Until whole deal is done, none of it is done. 2. I'm cautiously, VERY cautiously, optimistic. 3. Re-read No. 1.

All there really is to share from anyone on either side of this are their feelings at this point. You could say the same thing for the pro pundits is all that I am saying.

So update.

Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun
Told this has potential to be marathon session tonight... We shall see

http://twitter.com/Real_ESPNLeBrun

Last time there was a lockout it was a marathon session that lead to a deal.

It seems like we are at the same point of the negotiation process that leads to a finished deal during the last lockout . Could be good if both sides agree.

This.

Doug Maclean ‏@DougMaclean

Making progress. Not tonite but will be done. Motivation is to play more than 48 games..nice change in whats motivating each side.

https://twitter.com/DougMaclean/stat...01320834641921

Pundits on board with feeling optimistic but need remains for long negotiation process.

What?

The last time we had a lockout, we lost an entire season. I am not sure what you are referring to.

I am exhausted with this entire process, personally. At this point, I don't even care anymore if we have a season or not. If not, I will use my hard-earned money I saved on this season's tickets for a European vacation this summer.

If we do, I sure hope the Kings repeat. Nothing less, and I will feel cheated. (For those of you feeling outrage at this last sentence, I am joking.)

Told that NHL finally moved off $60 M year 2 cap, however, still not enough for players.
So, if the context if this tweet is true, what do you think happens next?

1. Owners are so pissed off the NHL walks away from the table.
2. Players are so pissed from the owners' weak offer they walk away from the table.
3. Compromise? Hahahahahaha........

Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick, who had back surgery after the team’s Cup run and would not have been ready to play if the season had started on time, has not yet been medically cleared to return but is close to that point.

Players willing to keep cap floor at $44 M for Year 2 cap even with higher upper limit

@Real_ESPNLeBrun Believed to be less than $2mil gap on cap. Important issue to PA for players and families impacted by team cap management.
Over the past several days, I have lost a tremendous amount of respect for both the NHL and the owners in this negotiation.

That doesn't mean I have any respect for the players' side, which I lost some time ago.

ALL of these guys are morally and integrally corrupt. Every last one of them.

If the players are willing to sign on to the cap floor being that low I have absolutely no idea why the owners are haggling on the upper limit like that. That is a pretty fair compromise.

how many teams were at the cap floor last year? im guessing the players believe there wont be as many salary bottom feeders, so theyre ok with the low cap floor.

The marathon session saved us from losing more than just a season of hockey (that's what I was referring to Ron).

These things to be considered as well.

Daly in email: "We hope to continue meeting to resolve as many open issues as we possibly can in pursuit of an agreement." #nhl

Confirmation it was middle ground. Players need to accept this and move on to the next issue. Whatever the **** that is, because it was reported earlier that the pension issue was resolved as well.

As frustrating as this entire thing is there has been more forward movement over this past week then there has been at any other point in time and there are allot of indicators that appear to be optimistic (or at least somewhat so) that we might be gearing up for a season.

Wild think season/deal is imminent. They pull prospect from AHL lineup to protect him from possible injury. (Projected to be their NHL 2nd line center)

I think its more that the Wild read the Kopitar injury report and got scared.

Marathon in Manhattan continues. Told lots of caucusing (good word) and the bargaining process remains strong.
My response is why they couldn't do this 3 months ago.

My question is rhetorical. I know the answer already. It's because both sides are a-holy.

After the Monarchs refused to let him "rehab" I think the team and he decided too not look to hard into clearing him to play. As long as he is "injured" he can use team facilities, doctors and coaches oh and minor detail he gets paid.

Given that today is January 5 and that January 19 is the day that Bettman marked as the "drop dead" date I don't see where this is real news.

I mean, if a season is to start, that's the day. Everyone knows that.

(Not disrespecting your post or your buddy's comments, just saying.)

Expect a tweet or 10 saying that players are on a conference call. That won't happen until noon tomorrow even if a deal was on the table right now,

Five days left before Armageddon. Tomorrow makes four days left.

Just a pathetic, pathetic episode in the NHL's history.

Talks still ongoing. From NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly via email, "Still lots of issues unresolved."
"Still lots of issues unresolved." ??

Too many to get done in the next four days? Still, encouraging that they are talking late into the night. Still wondering why they couldn't do this three months ago. Disgraceful.

It's 1:05 a.m. out there, and they are still meeting. Maybe I am reading it all wrong. Maybe they have a lot of issues to resolve, and perhaps they are trying to get them done now.

I know I sound like a broken record, but this could have been done months ago. Bob Miller had it right. Lock them in a room and no bathroom breaks. When the two sides are determined, as they are apparently are now, you can get things done in a rapid amount of time.
