Just for fun:

A standard situation for the Habs would be for Subban, Emelin, Plekanec, Armstrong, and Prust to all be injured simultaneously. It might not be those guys but it would be five equivalent guys, as in 2 injuries on defense (we often do a lot worse), one top-6 forward, and 2 bottom-6 forwards; a totally typical situation.

Our lines would then look like:

Pacioretty-Desharnais-Cole
Bourque-Gomez-Gionta
Palushaj-Eller-Moen
Leblanc-Nokelainen-White
spare: Dumont

Markov-Gorges
Kaberle-Bouillon
Diaz-Weber
spare: St-Denis

While all this make sense, I'm not sure we will see Gomez in a Habs jersey again.

I just love how we have legitimate grit in our bottom 6
Moen
Prust
White
Armstrong
Eller (plays a good defensive checking game, and he's bigger than ever.)
Possibly Bourque (if Gally plays in the top 6)

And I know we'll have injuries, but the depth we have at D and the added grit will help us whether the storm. I still think we could use one more tough guy who can play.

I wish we could have bigger/grittier guys on the defensive squad thought, we lack a Doug Murray type of guy.

Yeah, I agree. In a perfect world, Diaz would play Kaberle's role, and the #6 spot can be a defense first shut down guy (maybe tinordi in the future?)

short season keep 1st line together
2 recovering players with a centre who has been playing good
new wingers with centre with size hard to play against
moen won't moan about playing with gomez, white alright on wing

gorges has played right d with markov very well
emelin plays on natural left side with subban other teams will have their heads up
diaz gets a chance for strong current play , cube gives him veteran help
kaberle diaz pp and spotted depending on opponents
gal gets a taste with few enough games to keep junior elegible
Sensible and realistic. If Armstrong stays healthy, that third line is very interesting...

We still need a D and a 4th line center.

Has Dominic Moore signed anywhere? He would be perfect.

If there are 2 compliance buyouts, then the fans deserve for the organization to do the right thing and get rid of Kaberle and Gomez, freeing up space for Subban and the above two moves.

Assuming Gomez and Kaberle are bought out.

Patch - DD - Cole
Bourque - Pleks - Gio
Moen - Eller - Army
Prust - Noke - White
Blunden

Subban - Gorges
Markov - Emelin
Diaz - Bouillon
Weber

Price
Budaj

According to what Renaud Lavoie is reporting, the 2 buy-outs can be applied right away before the start of this season.

http://www.rds.ca/hockey/chroniques/353982.html

Not a fan of Renaud Lavoie by any stretch, but we all know that Mathieu Darche pisses directly in his ears. So, might be some truth in that.

So, I guess Gomez and Kaberle are out, or we keep them around for the short season ?

Is Nokelainen still under contract? I forget if we signed him or not. Been too long.

My god we are going to get shredded if our top line doesn't produce.

Yes, we currently have 22 players signed not counting anyone playing in the AHL or junior aged.

Is the "9-game" for prospects still in place? Or is it something lower, like 5, because of the shortened season? I definitely see Gally getting a few games before being sent down.

When is the new TRADE DEADLINE?!
(different date?!).

Plekanec?:
still injured? (I hope it's not for too long).

Negative:
imo we're going to be a boring one line team again
Imo, we need to split up the DD line...at least to try and balance the lines...imo (that 2nd line with Bourque is very OUCH!/risky! poor Pleks).
Positive:
if we are again a one line team...we might get another top 3-5 pick!!
(Jones, Drouin, Mackinnon,etc).

Lineup:
Pacioretty - Desharnais - Cole
Bourque - Plekanec - Gionta
Moen/Prust - Eller - Armstrong
Prust/Moen - Gomez? - White
------------------ ---------------------
Leblanc
Gallagher
Nokia
Blunden

Gorges-Subban
Markov-Emelin
Bouillon-Diaz
------- --------
Beaulieu-Tinordi
Kaberle (unless somehow he has improved!)
Weber on D

Galchenyuk: just give him a cup of tea with our Habs and then let him finish with Sarnia and then with Bulldogs for playoffs...if they make the playoffs. He's better off getting 30-40 AHL games next season...call him up mid-season (for 2013-2014) or at end of season a couple of months before playoffs (2014). Don't rush Galchy, imo. He's still so young...give him a bit of AHL time (to see how he adapts to the AHL level).

Buyouts
Scott Gomez
Tomas Kaberle

Lineup
Pacioretty - Desharnais - Cole
Bourque - Plekanec - Gionta
Moen - Eller - Leblanc
Armstrong - Nokelainen - Prust
White

Gorges - Subban
Markov - Bouillon
Emelin - Diaz
St-Denis

Utility Extra: Weber

Price
Budaj

If after the first two weeks, we aren't getting scoring from BOTH our top two lines;

Pacioretty - Plekanec - Gionta
Bourque - Desharnais - Cole

- Galchenyuk might get his cup of tea games, but I'm not sure.

I actually think we'll be in the playoff hunt if we get rid of kabarle and gomez

Pacioretty-Desharnais-Cole
Gionta-Plekanec-Bourque
Moen-Eller-Armstrong
Prust-Nokelainen-White

Subban-Gorges
Markov-Emelin
Diaz-Bouillion
Weber

Price
Budaj

On second thought nevermind,

Not enough scoring forwards, and the defence is too small

Yea doesn't seem like the best idea I know...but there were talks of him being moved last year.

I wouldn't mind that, give him 5 games and only keep him if he rips it up.
