Anybody have any info on Gunner Rivers? I remember he had quit Gloucester a while ago and still hasnt played a game to this point. Because of this situation, you would think Gloucester would want to trade him before the deadline to get something for him. I think he would be a good addition to a team looking to improve their goaltending now and moving forward.

I can see him landing in kanata seeing Lane is done after this year . Maybe Nistico can send Plouffe in return at the end of the season .

I have to agree on that one. You would think maybe that Kemptville might try on Rivers since the goaltending is absolutely horrid there. However not likely since nobody in charge will want to show up "the other goalie guy"!

Derian is a great player on a team that is impressing. Why would anyone trade him. As far as I know, he's not going to the "O" and is a 17 yr old, so probably around at least for another year. You don't trade your most talented player.

I'm sure Brockville or Cornwall could use Rivers. In my opinion they're both a goalie away from being a team that could have a very long playoff run.

As for Plouffe he is 17 although he wont be getting a scholarship at age 20 either. he'll be moved on to Div 1 soon in my opinion

With the NHL lockout over there could be some interesting domino effects happen, there is even a rumour that he trading deadline may be extended a week. There are players in the Major Junior who will move to either the AHL or NHL, meaning that some teams may reach down to Junior A to fill spots made available in the Major Junior. Could this open up a spot for a 20 year old like Corey Durocher or a 16 year old like Hunter Racine.......

Anyone know where Zawadski is? Second game in a row that he isn't on the gamesheet.

Rested. Should play next week.

Meanwhile the best D corps in junior Hockey gave up 8 to Brockville today...

Rested? Can't he rest on the bench?

I think you mean the goalie gave up 8. The D held Brockville to 27 shots. And 4 of the goals were on the PP.

As opposed to all on the D? Bottom line is that the goalie can't be allowing 8 goals on 25 shots. And you would take CP's D in a heartbeat.

I don't know what the problem with Clark is. He just does not seem to want to trust Laforest. IMO the kid has shown enough to be given more responsibility. Clark really seems to have something against giving younger players a chance/try at establishing themselves!

Actually I wouldn't. They are totally overrated.

My Bears sucked today. I know they have a few injuries but really...this team has enough talent to make up for that. There was little effort from this team today. I guess they thought they just had to show up at the Den and the Hawks would just fade away. Even Kemptville beat the Hawks yesterday!! BTW, congratulations to the 73's for winning their third game in a row today. First time they won consecutive games this year!! I will say that when the trade between SF and KV was made, on the surface it seemed like SF probably won. However, I have since found out that one of the kids they traded away was leading the team in +/- by a large margin. IMO, SF never had a problem scoring. I have previously said that their achilles heal would be defence, especially in the playoffs. I don't know if I would have traded away my top +/- player???

Zawadski- went to visit Family in Michigan after the all star tournament, they told him he could take the weekend off, I think he got back late Friday or yesterday.

Ottawa loses 3 in a row after the long streak and big win over smith Falls, when your king of the hill everyone is trying to knock you off.
4-3 Nepean over Ottawa- Robbillard excellent, Evelyn very physical and skated hard all game, Millen good but beat from way out on the first Nasca goal. Ottawa hit the post 3 times and Racine missed a empty net, could have gone either way.
Best game I've seen in awhile for Nepeans Defense. Yarwood is single handily trying to reintroduce the hip check to Hockey, some big hits, nice goal, no penalities, I still think he's to good a scorer to be D, but he played well at D tonight. Lines 2,3 & 4 got it done tonight. New guy from up North didn't play much, we will have to wait and see. Durocher is left wing on the top line.
I think Ottawa and Smith Falls will come back to the pack a little, but will still finish 1-2. Nepean, if Norris comes back soon, plus a better schedule, will slide into 3rd.
Ottawa
Smith Falls
Nepean
Pembroke
Cornwall
CPC
Kanata
Brockville
And the rest

Everything seems to be tightening up in points, if your the top 2 seeds who do you want to play? If its stays this close even coming first might give you a worse playoff draw

Then they should dominate, no? Actually they don't.

I would take Summers, other than that, they are average.

Since gus refuses to take the blinders off, here are some stats for average shots against:

CP 26.2
Ott 28
Brockville 29.1
Pembroke 30.1
SF 32.7
Cornwall 32.8
Glouc. 33.7
Nepean 34.1
Hawks 34.5
Cumb. 36.9
Kempt. 36.9
Kanata 37.6

While these numbers probably aren't the most accurate (as far as shot taking goes), it does show that the CP D are keeping the puck away from the goalies....compared to other teams.
