With Granlund. I was meaning a NHL team announcing Granlund as their #2 C before training camp has even started.

What camp, camp's going to be like five days. Besides, he's already had two-three months of 'preseason games'.

It just seems kind of backwards. Why not wait until you see what he does against NHLers?

It would be like Lou coming out next year before camp and saying "Merrill will be on our 1st pairing and 1st PP QB."

They are terrible, they finished 13th in the West last year after leading the league a quarter of the way through.

Heatley will basically have to be bought out. Backstrom, Bouchard, Clutterbuck and Cullen are FAs in the summer

Well that depends. I'm a little concerned about the Devils in this situation, although I think the lockout and late start helps to avoid the usual SC run-hangover.

I think the Devils may have a bit of a rough go of it this year, just a gut feeling, so it'll be interesting to watch to see what Lou does.

Well, when your best options after Koivu are Matt Cullen and Kyle Brodziak...

Suddenly Eklund is a credible source to some on the main board because he had one thing right at the end of 2012. The only thing he was right about the entire year.

I have the same feeling -- I don't think we'll be an overwhelming team this year, and I'm hoping we won't be an underwhelming one.

But, then again, even with the barest of rosters, the Devils find a way into the postseason. And from there, it's a crapshoot.

Let's just hope there's a season first.

I have to get up at around 8 tomorrow. I shouldn't be up. But I want to know the second anything happens no matter how little it may be. Ugh.

WOO HOO! Lockout over folks!

Some details I'm seeing on twitter:

CBA length is 10 years with 8 year opt out
Contract limit is 7 years; 8 years if re-signing own player
$64.3m cap in 2013-2014

Nothing to dislike about any of that.
Cap near the same, plenty of room to re-sign all the upcoming UFAs/RFAs.
With a re-signing term advantage.

I'd like 100 years over 10... but it's better than the initially proposed 5 years.

Good work by whoever was there tonight, too bad it couldn't be done in September, but so it is....
