I didn't mean who starts the game on the bench of those 6. The issue is who sits on the bench at the END of a close game. Can't sit Melo, obviously. Can't sit Chandler because he's your big. Felton, Kidd, Smith, Amare. Personally I think Felton should sit, of that group. Too capable of making a dumb decision.
IMO, i think smith would be more capable of making a bone headed decision. weve seen it before in denver, and even now we still see some glimpses of the old J.R. im not saying bench him in a close game ( considering he has 2 buzzer beaters this year) but i think anyone out of that lineup can make a bad move. yes that even includes the great Kidd.
I think when felton is on his game, he runs the floor very good. if hes 3 for 18 in a close game, BENCH HIM! because if u dont hes gonna put up some terrible shot and miss. But if hes on his game,(even if its just something like a 7 for 15 shot night) there is no way in the world i would bench him in a close game.
If Avery Johnson were still coach, we would have lost at least four of those games I'd bet. What a difference a coach who actually has a clue of what to do makes. I admit I've never really been a huge PJ fan but so far he is doing as good a job as one could and everyone is playing better and playing off their strengths. For the time being, color me one happy Nets fan.
Avery is a good coach, he's just very stubborn. He gave up on Brooks and Teletovic, and Humphries to a certain extent. Once Lopez went down and Blatche had to start, Avery had no idea how to manage the bench while maintaining the doghouse that those 3 players were apparently in. That's why the Nets sucked all month and that's why he got canned. Avery was effectively using a 1 man bench with Watson.
Notice that Brooks and Teletovic are back in the rotation (more so Brooks) and Lopez is 100%, and the team is winning consistently again. It's not a coincidence.
KG is relentless with the trash talk on the court. He once told Villanueva that he's a Cancer patient. Not surprised that Melo got ticked. He's not tough mentally. He gets a technical in every game the Knicks lose, it seems. Such a baby.
