Paul is a UFA, you don't need to trade pieces, do you? Heat sent a 1st to the Raptors for Bosh, so I guess that's what LA could expect to get from the Knicks.

I think it has to do with the salary cap. NBA cap rules are REALLY strange, but I think there's certain rules you have to adhere to once you're over the hard cap.
I don't think it's financially feasible to get CP3, or else I imagine there would be A LOT more speculation about him coming here. I'm not sure, though.
I believe Paul would have to take less to go anywhere as a UFA. With the new CBA they made so you lose money (25 mill I think) if you leave your current team.

I dont think we can get paul unless we sign and trade but we would probably have to give up shumpert and a 1st round pick or 2

dont get me wrong,i would love him here,but even if he did handcuff the Clippers,we dont have the pieces they would take back in a trade.they certainly wont just hand him to the Knicks because thats where Paul only wants to go either

Trade Camby elsewhere. Novak too.
Offer the next few yrs draft picks for a sign and trade for Paul so that he gets an extra yr on his contract. Doesn't seem complicated.
Why do people even think Paul wants to come here? His whole vow to come to New York thing happened before he wound up in LA with an extremely competitive young team.
