new deal is reached

or season is cancelled which dissolves the union and they go to court.

right now everything is pointing to deal is done, thank god
Has he been in the negotiations? On witch side, The owners (NHL) or the PA?
My guess would be that he is a owner

Deal done. No time to try to repair the damage and see what they actually agreed to that was worth the half season.

Seems likely we will get a 50 game schedule.

IIRC, on Dec 5th, they offered 300mil make whole, 5 year contract limits and 7 for a team's own players, 10 year CBA with an opt out at 8, 60 mil cap for next year. so, for the cost of 2 paychecks (and mountains of lost respect from fans and league integrity in the sewer for a generation) the PA gained a couple of years on contracts for about 30 top level players, 3 mil on the cap next year and 1 year opt on the CBA.

there is no way around it; they shoulda taken the deal in December.

They also made the owners sweat a lot for it something that could make the next CBA negotiation way easier.

I think it was totally worth it for the PA to wait 1 month in order to gain that but thats just my opinion.

Is there any chance, in the world (within reason), that this will fall through?

Bloody unlikely both sides are in almost constant communication with their constituent they both know for a while where it would end.

There's always a chance. There could be an issue where the sides misunderstood each other but you have to believe that they'll see the negative press of nixing the deal on a technicality or small misunderstanding would be so immense that it's worth it just to split the difference and call it a deal.

I very highly doubt that this will fall through now.

If that were to happen, hockey fans really do get treated the worst, it'd almost be comical if I wasn't a hockey fan myself.
