Cap floor is $44M for year 2.

This is HUGE for smaller market/budget teams.

From Friedman:

On variance, lowest-paid season of any multi year deal can be no lower than 50 per cent of highest season

I know you did in the numbers, but for people who dont follow contracts as closely, you had titles like without ballard, with lou, without lou, i just expected mention you speculated on the edler raise as well.

Thanks. I like the without Ballard and Luongo. And I'm hoping we can at least get picks back from Ballard.

Next year we are going to heavily rely on Kassian, Shroeder, Jensen, Tanev, Corrado and Lack to step up.

We need ELC NHL players.

Looks like the NHL got the variance split the way they wanted. The year to year percentage is 35% but no year can be lower than 50% of the highest year which all but eliminates front loaded deals.

so is Luongo's front loading back diving contract grandfathered or what? Are the Canucks going to be punished even if he is traded what are the terms on the 15 or so contracts that are front loaded?

I know its just a pipe dream of mine but taking a run at perry if he hits ufa this summer might be tough.

Would have to drop booth, and with burrows raise would leave us with about 6.5
