I hope Scot Beckenbaugh has some Jedi mind tricks up his sleeve to help close this deal.

LOL

Wait a minute.... why am I laughing? One of the most sane people on this board is asking for intervention via a George Lucas brain fart....

I'll have to counter with 3CP0 and say "We're doomed"

NHL AND NHLPA REACH DEAL ON COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT!
Quote:
A tentative deal on a new 10-year collective bargaining agreement has been reached between the NHL and NHL Players' Association.
Quote:
"We have reached an agreement on the framework of a new collective bargaining agreement," NHL commissioner Gary Bettman confirmed to reporters early Sunday morning. ""I want to thank Don Fehr. We still have more work to do, but it's good to be at this point."

According to TSN Hockey Analyst Aaron Ward, part of the agreement saw the league come off their demand for $60 million cap in Year 2 of the new deal to meet the NHLPA's request to have it at $64.3 million - which was the upper limit from last year's cap.

Some more details as they become available:
Quote:
Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun
Further to @aaronward_nhl reporting Year 2 cap at $64.3 M, I can add that Year 2 floor will be $44 M

Nick Kypreos ‏@RealKyper
Also on new #NHL #CBA contract variance lowest number can or be 50% less than highest. Example. 10m-5m

I'm still waiting for word if they've included any of the punitive language meant to punish teams currently with long-term contracts. For example, if a player retires, will that player still count against the cap?

So tentative agreement is now the same as agreement now?

Has there been offical word from Bettman that the CBA has been signed?

A starting date announced?

Number of games announced?

Sorry, call me skeptical. Until these things happen, the lockout is still in effect.

Finally. Buffalo is too weird without hockey. Nobody walking to First Niagara with Kaleta jerseys.

Slow down there sparky! One thing at a time.

Official word of signed agreement
Start date announced
Official schedule released
Number of home games

I would bet very very very few seats will be available for a shortened season. I'm a STH, and the guys I split with may not want all their tickets. So I may have a game or two available. Time will tell.

On NHL.com, it still says Jan. 15th and Buffalo's first game is against the Sens but I don't believe it'll be set up that soon.

Players overseas
Legal stuffs
If the deal is actually a DONE deal

One of the TSN videos said no changes to either, just the term limits and variance.

It hasn't been signed. It needs to be finalized and approved by both parties first.

And, the lockout is over the second the league says it is, since they are the ones that initiated it.

Jedi Master Joshjull,

I am not worthy..... I did not trust the Force and the master's wisdom.

I needed more midiclorians....... so I must be off to the local legal medicinal store to acquire some...

Now, bring on the season!!!

P.S. Miller lets in too many easy goals, Enroth rules, Roy is a cancer, Connelly is a p***y, and Leino......... whatever (Just trying to get back in shape!! I know my references are out of date.)
