would it make sense to sign Mark Eaton as the permascratch d-man and leave Blum in Milwaukee?

in a short season would a UFA signing now be the equivalent of a deadline trade?

maybe snag a Knuble or Sykora on a one year deal?

of course I imagine a lot of teams will have the same thoughts and be after the same players... but with the new cap I cant see any long term deals signed in this next week so a lot of guys will get 48 game "prove it' deals...

and on that note, i wonder when the trade deadline will be this year...

Blum and Ellis have been playing very well in Milwaukee. Don't think Eaton would get any more than a PTO for camp. We could use a vet in Milwaukee though for depth as injuries have depleted depth down there.

Sykora is the player that intrigues me. Erat and Sykora have chemistry from international play. Erat is a skilled playmaker. Sykora is a speedy goal-scoring winger. Put Fisher between them and see what happens...
