I would totally take Campoli back. He's a better player than anyone on hf will ever give him credit for. I would be happy with a third pairing of Phillips-Campoli

According to everything I have heard the buyouts for this year start in June 2013.

Doubt it, he isn't close to being ready for the NHL.

Latendresse-Spezza-Michalek
Silfverberg-Turris-Alfredsson
Greening-Regin-Neil
Smith-OBrien-Condra
daugavins

Methot-Karlsson
Phillips-Gonchar
Wiercioch-Benoit

Anderson
Bishop

(assuming lundin injured, then replaces benoit/wiercioch)

this could work out great for benoit. forwards look fine. defence might need some help obviously.

holy**** hockey is back

Is Benoit even on a 2 way or just an AHL contract?

Yeah I think Ranger is far from a guarantee to sign in T.O... He signed an AHL contract there to stay close to home. Binghamton is a ****** location, Toronto an awesome one for an AHL team. In the NHL, Toronto no longer really has an edge besides already having a rapport with him.

Ugh, I know. They talk about how good Bishop is playing in the AHL, barely mentioning Lehner. Don't mention the D injuries until the last 15 seconds, despite that being Ottawa's main problem going into the season. 8 minutes of useless filler.

e: And I'm hoping they call up Benoit before Wiercioch or Borowiecki. He's always looked good in his NHL callups, he looks like the most NHL-capable D on the AHL team right now, and giving him a half season of NHL pay would be a pretty sweet reward for an AHL journeyman. I think Wiercioch still needs another season in the AHL.

and johnson "reporting" that the reason zibanejad was not allowed to play for sweden was because of his poor ahl performance

MJ also didn't seem to know Zibby has been out for 2 months.

Panger pumped Bishop, but said little about Lehner's play.

Why are you guys surprised?

Ottawa gets looked over on a regular basis.
If it wasn't for Karlsson or the All Star game we wouldnt have been mentioned at all.

Sens need to replace Cowen and Lundin, so unless Murray signs a UFA or makes a trade two of the B-Sens D will likely be in Ottawa.

Watching PW play he as ready as any D in Binghamton.

Is this the year we start to see the value of Brian Lee?

In a shortened season, maybe we won't rely on the 5-6 pairing as much. Like Robinson, Lapointe, and Savard taking most of the ice time for the Habs in the '70s.

So, Cowen is done for the year and Lundin is out for a bit? That means we have 4 d (Karlsson, Methot, Gonchar, Phillips) meaning we sign/trade for someone or call a couple of D up from Bingo. Who are the options from Bingo? Benoit, Weird Crotch and Borocop? Anyone else?

The only other one that might get some consideration would be Gryba.

But I prefer the Paul Ranger idea.

Methot - Karlsson
Phillips - Gonchar
Ranger - Wiercioch

Ranger is racking up the +/- for the Marlies.

So much optimism heading into this year but Im worried about a regression.

Cowen's injury is a big concern and our blueline looks awful. Add in that Karlsson is going to be focused on a lot more, and it's not looking good.

I also dont think that Alfie or Michalek will have the years they had last year and our scoring depth was a big reason we got into the playofs last year

I'm with you on this one. I think its far more possible that we miss the playoffs rather than squeeze in.

The defense is in trouble barring a big breakout from Wiercioch or Benoit imo. Phillips usually takes about 10 games to really get his feet under him, and unfortunately that's going to end up about 1/4 of the season at this point. The Cowen injury is crippling.

How are teams going to focus on Karlsson more than they already have been?

Stare hard and concentrate when he is on the ice? Bend spoons with their mind power?

"OK guys, I want you to watch out for this #65 kid that has obviously been overlooked as he put up 78 points and won the Norris without anybody noticing and trying to stop him."

Just tell them that Karlsson is faster than you, smarter than you, shiftier than you, that he might pass or go right through you. That Ottawa will retaliate after any shenanigans. I'm sure that'll scare Karlsson from taking a thousand shots.

We came close this summer. We have tons of B and B+ prospects we can trade as part of a package . The time is now...go get Hjalmarsson.
