Same here .... using the phone now.

I'd say that's a solid guess.

Stransky is also a possibility. They may want to take their potentially only shot at getting him around Jagr.

Same could be said of Faksa, but I think Stransky, playing a similar game, could benefit more.

Geeze im not even thinking about those guys. Props of good drafting already showing.

Edit: Pretty sure Saskatoon doesn't played until Friday or Saturday, so the timing would work out. At least for a little bit.

Yeah... it might be a case of too much too soon with Faksa and this whirlwind of activity lately.

With Ritchie he's already attended an NHL training camp so he knows what to expect.

Meanwhile Stransky has likely been stewing about not being selected to the Czech team and could be primed to make an impression.

No warm up games???

Lehtonen and Bachman's first game shots against could be the real thing.

The background/logo...

That's just something he's using, right?

Advantage Dallas?

How about this quote?

Quote:
“On January 2 Derek Roy got cleared to play.
Would have been without him for almost half of the season if things had started on time.

Joe is looking like quite the sage with that decision.

Also sounded a bit to me like Gulutzan was maybe going to let Oleksiak see if he could win a spot... talking about the other mystery Dman that would be coming to camp.

Right or wrong ... I combine the two trades in my mind.

I'll always compare Roy to Ribeiro, and I'll see the other part of the trade as essentially Ott for Eakin and Winther.

Makes it feel like a great deal for Dallas.

Going to be interesting to see what Ribeiro does with Ovechkin. Someone pointed out that Backstrom was probably still hurt.

I agree. I'll be surprised if he steals the job. I think he'd have to be significantly better than Dillon to make the team.

All things even ... or just close to even ... Dillon is the guy IMO.

I know I'll be watching a lot of Caps games for sure. I'm glad they're at least getting some value out of that trade, would've been pretty rough giving up Eakin for nothing.

Definitely makes the trade for us even more palatable though.

How did you guys end up with Eakin? Used too see him all the time when he played WHL and the transaction isn't listed on Hockey Reference.

Trade Ribeiro for him at the draft. The Stars got a 2nd round pick back as well that became Mike Winther, who plays for Prince Albert in the WHL.

He was a prospect for the Capitals. They needed a top 6 center and we needed a young center with potential. So we have them Ribeiro for Eakin and a 2nd (Mike Winther).

It kind of pisses me off that there are no out of conference games this year. Those are almost always my favorite games, and now I have to actually watch other games a lot to see those players.

Seriously though, it does irk me.

I don't want to go all they way out on a limb, but it may be official that Matej Stransky is attending camp.

This article here claims the NHL has already submitted a list of names to the WHL.

The player mentioned is on the Pats. It's an interview with the GM of the team:

Quote:
Jobke wasn't on the list of players submitted by the NHL.

"If there was a legit shot for him to go, we thought he would have been one of those guys named on that list," said Lang. "But having no indication from them at this time, I would foresee he would be with us.

"We wanted to protect ourselves from a CHL standpoint to ensure they're not depleting our rosters just for camps. They said the guys who have legitimate opportunities to compete for spots could go."
In that last part ... "They" might refer to the NHL, meaning if the list is accurate, and that statement is accurate, Stransky is being given a legitimate shot at the NHL.

Here is the list from the article:

Quote:
Some of the names on the WHL list include: Matt Dum-ba (Red Deer Rebels), Victor Rask (Calgary Hitmen), Matej Stransky (Saskatoon Blades), Derrick Pouliot (Portland Winterhawks), Morgan Rielly (Moose Jaw Warriors), Griffin Reinhart (Edmonton Oil Kings), Ty Rattie (Portland) and David Musil (Oil Kings).

I found another article referring to a list between the CHL and the NHL regarding players and training camp. However this one claims it was created last fall after or just before the lockout started.

If that's the case, Brett Ritchie hadn't broken out yet so I'd be a bit surprised if he made the list. There's no report or article I can find so far that says the list can't be changed though.

Faksa, Stransky, and Ritchie are on that CHL/NHL lockout list.

All three are available to get called up for camp.

(If I remember correctly)

Now I found the full list ..... lol.

It was tweet from Bobbie Mac.

Dallas submitted Stransky, Faksa, and Ritchie. As he notes in the tweet, this only allows from them to come to camp, this doesn't mean the team will definitely bring them to camp.

I didn't remember anything about that list all. Sort of just stumbled on it this morning when I thought I'd check and see if they're were any mentions about Stransky coming to camp on any new articles.
