Yuup, this is pretty much the best case scenario for Schroeder. He's in game shape, has been playing meaningful games and should have a headstart on his peers. If he can't get things going in this environment, I'm going to move my hand toward the panic button.
He's been playing pretty well of late, too - so hopefully he can translate that confidence to the highest level.
As a playmaker first, he could be ideally suited to line up with Booth. Higgins is also more of a shoot-first guy, too.
I don't get why you guys think Joslin will be called up. He's terrible, I'd take Rome or Alberts over him any day. The second dman has to be Connauton, especially given the two buyouts available, Keith Ballard should be on his way out. A left handed slot would be open for Connauton.

Joslin was signed to be a depth d-man for us, so I'm guessing the Canucks want to see how he does in training camp.
And Connauton just isn't NHL ready, plain and simple. He needs to spend the full season in the AHL.
You have to bring in Corrado! See what he can do, why not. Would be a good experience for him.
Playing devils advocate here, but I can see why Corrado isn't an instant invite. It would be lovely to see him but there is no way he cracks this roster this season unless Ballard is moved early.
Next, Corrado is a strong candidate to be traded this season and the trade deadline is Jan 10th. Do you take him off his new team for a week despite knowing his chances are slim? I guess it depends on what Branch does with the trade deadline; rumor was that he wanted to move it forward likely until the NHL submits their rosters for opening night.
Anyways, I hope to see him up here but I can see their reasoning for hesitation.
If the Canucks don't get a centre back in a Luongo deal (or any other transaction prior to the season starting), I'd bet $$$ that Lapierre would centre Hansen & Raymond on the 3rd line...and Manny would centre the 4th.
We shall see. It's just nice to discuss ACTUAL hockey!
Add a plate for me. Did not think Connauton's body of work this year had been up to par, but mayhaps they are attributing that to Chicago's struggles as a team.
I think it will be a battle between the two; if Malhotra can regain his pre-injury form, it'll be his hands down. But Lapierre was pretty solid in the role during the 2011 playoffs and the duration of last year.
Don't think they should bother with Corrado. I like the kid, but he isn't making the team.
I think he could make some noise - might be able to edge out Connauton, at least - but he won't be beating out any of the regulars, that's for sure. It'd be more productive for the team to be patient with him and let him play out the year in the OHL.

Yeah, there is no way he plays for the Canucks this season.
I'd rather see him play well and develop in the OHL than play bottom pairing minutes and possibly get demolished in the NHL.
They could invite him to camp just to see where he is in his development and to give him a small taste of the NHL.

Okay. But, Connauton isn't making the team either.

Might not be a bad idea...could get a good assessment of what areas he will need to focus on improving to make it to the show and still have a good chunk of the OHL season to do it.Also hoping he gets traded to contender for a good playoff run.
