Michael Mersch with two more goals for the Badgers, and they're up 3-0 against Alabama-Huntsville.

To put this into perspective: Michael Mersch has 11 goals on the season, and the next leading scorer on the team has three.

what type of player can Mersch be? has good size, looks to have a good goal scoring skills, can he be a good 2nd liner or 3rd liner in the future?

By no means would I expect Mersch to become a top-six player. I think he can be a solid bottom-six guy, a power forward, who can finish around the net.

Gibson 3rd star of the week in the Q. He's quietly put together a few solid games.

Good to see Gibson doing well after his surgery. He had another strong outing today, although his team got shutout 2-0. He made 38 saves on 40 shots.

The Kings have decent goaltending depth, but with Bernier reportedly wanting out, and Jones going through some growing pains in the AHL, Gibson might be the back-up of the future.

Nice game for Alex Roach tonight. He had 4 assists in Calgary's 10-2 win. Way to start the new year!

Mersch with another goal & assist last night. He doesnt even play on the 1st line. His goal was unassisted and that has happened more often this season already.

Shore had a goal as well for Denver.

Michael Mersch with another strong game tonight. He gets an assist, and the Badgers win 1-0. He now has 12+6=18 in 18 games. The guy is on another level.

He has to be the most improved prospect for us this year by a mile, right?

I like what I read about him and Winconsin is very low scoring team. At one point he had scored 45% of all goals.

I dont think he had an assist on tonight's goal.

Hm, I guess you're right. Yesterday I read that he assisted on the breakawaygoal, but I guess not. He had a great game, anyhow.

Christopher Gibson named one of the three stars of the week in the QMJHL. He had a 41 save shutout yesterday. It's like he's a different goalie after his injury. Guy's just been on fire.

^^^ That's great to hear, I was actually starting to worry about the kid. Maybe he's finally coming into his own, it's a tough position to play and I'm sure he's still got lots of developping to do. Reminds me a little of Forbort's progress. Some of us were scared at first but recent reports/stats show that he's mightily improve his game

Gibson right now is ranked 4th in GAA(2.68) and 3rd in Sv%(0.916) in QMJHL. Such a great improvement for the guy from the beggining of the season.

Only judging by stats, and since I have never seen him play I really have no clue who he is, but Alex Roach in the WHL is currently 4th in points among defenders with 34, and 3rd in +/- among defenders with 30 (9 among all players), scoring 9 points in 5 games in the month of January.

Have zero idea if his game will ever translate to NHL play but he seems to have taken quite a step forward this season. He's a big kid so it would be interesting to see if he can turn out to be something of value.

Anyone seen him play and if so, what is there to expect from him in the future? Could he continue to develop or is this it for him, playing as an overager in a junior league?

Thanks.

Couple of observations Chris Gibson has been on fire which is great to see...Nick Ebert has good offensive numbers but looking at the -16 is really bad for a defensemen... Looks like Collin Miller and Alex Roach really have been find's for the Kings scouts... Overall everyone is doing very well, I don't think any one of our prospects I would say under achieving because of where they were drafted...

Really like that Gibson and Forbort this year have really taken a step forward...

Yeah, Gibson is really climbing the ranks now in the QMJHL. He got another win yesterday (2-1) and is tied for the best save % in the league.

Collin Miller has really come on this year. He's already doubled his offensive output from last year, and we're barely halfway into the season.

He's not an overager, born in '93.

I like his shot and toughness but not very agile. He's also playing for an excellent (offensive) team which is never a bad thing. They seem to score 4-6 goals each game lately.

Meh, I wouldn't worry too much about +/- when it comes to Ebert. He plays top minutes and all situations on a pretty bad Windsor team. That inflates the number a little bit. They have 2 players on their roster right now that are in the + side of things...

Nick Shore and Denver are playing on NBC Sports Network RIGHT NOW. Denver's currently leading 3-1. I just tuned in, so I don't know if Nick scored at all. I just know his younger brother Quentin scored the third goal.
