Hockey must be back since it's more talk about trading for Iginla. Seriously? Anyway, if this team is going to make a deadline deal it will likely be for a 3rd line center or extra depth on D. We're not trading 1st round picks for Jerome Iginla. lol
id rather trade for St.Louis than Iginla and i dont see either happening. both players will retire with their teams, unless they request a trade..
as for center maybe Ryan Malone.. he is a little pricey but would add some more size down the middle and he also can play wing as well..

Checked w/a couple GMs and they anticipated an early April trade deadline. @Real_ESPNLeBrun reporting that league suggesting April 5.
Was looking over UFA defenseman of teams who may not be in it. Here's what I got.
-Hainsey (will probably be in it)
-Regehr (will probably be in it)
-Streit (won't happen)
-Lydman
-Smid (don't think EDM will let him go)
I think a strong 3rd line player and vet D are the only holes we will really need to fill. I think we have enough firepower on the top 2 lines to get the job done.
Guys, every damn year we introduce an "offensive-minded/PP QB-type" defenseman into the lineup at the deadline and it never pans out.
Ozolinsh

...what the hell have any of these guys ever done for the team? Most of the time they end up being a liability because you can not expect to just plop them into a system where defense is king and played in a strict, strategy-driven, all-out-balls-to-the-wall way. We have the best D-corps in the league, leave it alone.
Give me Ryan Getzlaf on a rental to come in here and make this team just freaking stupid.
It depends on how the mechanism of the salary cap being at $60m with an allowance to $70.2m actually works. The Rangers will be over the cap all year. In my view, this means no salary additions in-season.

You can spend up to 70.2 mil this year, the 60 mil cap isn't real due to the transition rules

I don't think that's actually been confirmed yet. The fact that the $60m number keeps being mentioned makes be suspicious that what I'm saying will be the case, that the allowance to 70.2 works more like LTIR than like the cap mechanism.

Oh please no! As a NYR and a Jets fan, I don't want him on either team.
Hard to guess as we have no idea what this team is or what their needs may be at the deadline. At first blush, I think they will try to add a vet d-man for the playoffs.
i guess i was hoping a prospect + 2nd round pick would do
