Visnovsky has been screwed around a whole heck of a lot in North America, including royally by the Kings (my tied for favourite team, so I am being honest), always on terrible teams. Now at 37 years old he has been able to head to his hometown team, in a great league now since moving to KHL, where he is a key player on likely a playoff team and he wants to stay. This was pretty always going to be his last NHL season, I think he was just tired of the NHL and they way he has been treated. His skills are fine, he is a still a really solid defenseman, been one of the top defenders in the KHL this year.
He's also going to be talking to New York Islander management about it, so it's not like he is running from his contract, he'll try to do right by everybody.

The Trade was made legal and after that I thought he said he would come to the Island
That's the thing, if he comes back it will be to Islanders, it's nothing against them personally...he just doesn't want to play in the NHL anymore, better situation for him in Slovan...
Isn't a big reason the isles wanted Vis, was for the scoring he can bring?
I'm gonna guess that unless Snow feels backed into a corner, thinks the KHL won't honor Vis NHL contract, that Snow holds onto Vis and tries forcing him to join the isles.
leafs could add in a late pick as well this is if he decides he will stay in the KHL obviously if he comes to the island you wont trade him for komi
The isles are not a team that would pay a 3rd pairing d-man $3.5m-$4m dollars. Tavres will make $4m this season.
The decision about staying in the KHL, does not sound like it is up to Vis. It sounds like the decision will be Snow's and the KHL front offices.

The KHL and NHL have a Memorandum of Understanding and while that’s not a rock solid transfer agreement, the two sides have abided by it since it was signed in June 2011 and re-signed in 2012. For either side to break it over a guy at the tail end of his career is unlikely. When push comes to shove, the KHL would likely tell HC Slovan to back off or else risk losing the positive relationship both sides have had in recent years.
Another option is that the Islanders and HC Slovan could work out a transfer agreement that would keep Visnovsky in the KHL. For the Islanders, a team that desperately needs to make the playoffs, it’s worth it to keep Visnovsky on the Coliseum ice for six months rather than take whatever money would be offered in return. The Islanders may have money issues, but they’re certainly not broke enough to sell Visnovsky for pennies on the dollar.

You're probably right. I wouldn't mind adding Murray in a separate deal if the cost was reasonable. We could use him on a 3rd pairing.
If he wasn't playing because he wanted to play on a contender, I'd be interested, but it doesn't seem as though that's the case. I guess it's just bad luck then.

Carkner's got that new 3 yr deal and with Snow comments about sticking with his youth movement, you have to think one of the AHL pmd will be on the 3rd pairing.
The only way I see Snow making a pitch for Murray, is if he loses out on Vis in the top 4 and is desperately looking for a last minute, top 4 pickup.

Personally I think he'll show. I'm not gonna put much stock into this, at least not until some reputable sources start running with it. If that eventually happens, then oh well. Would have been nice to have him but it's only one year and it's only a 2nd rounder. Could be a lot worse I'd imagine.

After how last season was ruined for Nino Niederreiter in that exact same situation (salary floor)---I'd rather claim Wade Redden to get over the floor if Visnovsky isn't here.
As for Lubo, I could see the Islanders taking this case to an arbitrator if Visnovsky does not report...and tolling his contract.

The Islanders were already above the Cap floor last year withthe signings of Staios and Pandolfo. Nino started the season on the IR with a severe groin strain. They Held on to Nino because they thought he was ready not for the salary floor like most people thought. It was the Running over (concussion by head shot) by Fistric which sccrewed up his season. The Ilsanders after that hoped that working with Striet, Wieght and Pandolfo that Nino could turn it around. That was the failure and If you watch any of Nino's AHL games I think its all behind him.
The main problem here is that the guy really wants to stick around in the KHL instead of playing for the Islanders. Unless the KHL tells him to return there's very little leverage the Islanders have if he doesn't want to return. It doesn't help to toll the contract if he doesn't want to play in NA anymore.
