I agree on the goaltending stuff, I don't know why Emery is back and why we made no attempts at bringing in another decent goalie to push Crawford, good goalies can be found anywhere, remember Niemi who was plucked out of Finland and signed completely under the radar.

I think this team has issues but I don't think they are in danger of missing the playoffs unless they are*devastated by injuries. Or if Toews goes out long term then the lack of center depth will hurt in that situation.

I'd like to trade Frolik to the Ducks for swedish goalie Viktor Fasth. Great in international play and the SEL. Could win the job over Emery.

Other than that I'd take Greiss over Emery

I 100% agree on the goaltending problem.

I guess the good thing is...if Crawford stinks the joint up again, they will probably use one of their 2 buyouts on him this coming summer. But that wouldn't help us this season.

Kinda screwed without a #2 C, but I think this is our best option....

Sharp-Toews-Stalberg
Carcillo-Kane-Hossa
Frolik-Bollland-Bickell
Shaw-Kruger-who cares

Keith-Seabs
Rozival-Leddy
Hammer-Oduya

Crawford
Pray for rain?

Really? Go find 1 on FA at the beginning of the summer.

There was pretty much nothing there. This coming class is waaaay better.

48 games...50 games.... I don't even consider this a "real" season. I'm actually kind of glad it's short as it'll be a quick year off the contracts of some people that don't need to be on the roster any more. I wouldn't mind one down season...draft mid to high next year, get the goaltending situation and get utilize the buyouts wisely... I see this year as a freebie. Use it to transition into '13-'14.

IMO
Vancouver: No Kesler, and they aren't playing in a marshmellow divisioin anymore.

Detroit: They lost Lidstrom, in addition to being yet another season older without any significant upgrades in their forward corps

St. Louis: Better defensively and in net than the Hawks. I'll give you the Blues, but the Hawks didn't have much of an issue with them last season despite it being the Blues best season in a while and the Hawks having an incredibly mediocre one.

Nashville: Lost Suter, obviously thats going to be tough. Like the Blues, i'll give you the Preds.

San Jose: Very top heavy, no bottom 6, questionable goaltending.

LA: Quick and Kopitiar miss early time, but there's no arguing that the Kings will not be a threat

Phoenix: Mike Smith has to play equally as well as he did last year for PHX to have a shot. They didn't get better offensively at all. System or not, they are not now, nor have ever been better than the Hawks.

Dallas and Minnesota: Not a chance. So many holes on both of those teams. Namely defensively. Suter and Parise making the Wild better for sure, but they're still about 3-4 dmen away from being a dangerous team. Same goes with Dallas.

3, MAYBE 4 of those teams are better or as good as the Hawks.

Remember when the Red Wings were going to sign Suter to fill Lidstrom's shoes and then they signed Carlo Corlaiocovo instead?

Yes they can be found, Belfour was an undrafted free agent, Hasek was like an 8th round pick, Niemi was an undrafted free agent. This free agent draft may have been weak but it's time we draft, scout and develop our own instead of looking to overpay like we've done in the past. We've kinda done that with Crawford but we need another younger goalie that should be ready to go now and push him or take over instead of having to overpay for a guy who's probably got 2 or 3 years left in him.

So no way the Hawks go into the season with 8 Defensemen right? Keith, Seabrook, Leddy, oduya, brookbank, Montador, rozsival, Hjalmersson......they have to trade one right?

I think the hawks make a serious cup run in Toews and Kane contract year. Prospects will be ready by then and the hawks will have the needed forward depth.

A shortened season works out great when you think about everything that's been said the past few years about Montador and Rozsival, when 100% healthy they're both sound defenseman, and Rozy was a beast in the playoffs last year.

Stalberg-Toews-Kane
Sharp-Pirri-Hossa (Hard to screw up with Sharp and Hoss on wing)
Frolik-Bolland-Shaw (Frolik is a cancer, uhg)
Carcillo-Mayers-Kruger (that's a solid fourth line)

Keith-Seabs
Oduya-Rozsival
Hammer-Montador
Brookbank (leddy spends a little more time in Rockford)

Puke
More Puke

There's no chance Leddy starts in Rockford.

He and his -12 should. His defensive game is not top four material.

Yeah, this is ridiculous. 48-50 games is more than enough to decide the 16 teams to get to the playoffs and their seeding.

Let's face it, this league is about the playoffs. Still gonna need 16 wins.
