I don't want to jump the gun here, but if the lockout ends and we have a 48 game season 8 days after does anyone see the Sharks adding another player? If so who's still without a team. Does DW go for broke thinking a shortened season would benefit an aging Sharks roster? Actual hockey speculation, its been been awhile!

Not that it softens the blow any, but I think Burish is better right now.

Hopefully Moore resigns with us. That would definitely help.

So we are kind of screwed next year with the 64m cap hit, no? Unless we buy Boyler out but we need him.

I forsee trading Boyle as soon as this season ends for a cheap forward or futures. We don't
need Boyle.
Hell, the way the draft lottery system works, a competitive team could potentially end up with a high pick if they barely miss the playoffs, and then we could make a move for that pick.

We just trade Boyle for Claude Giroux. Simple.

the sharks next year have 10 million to resign 7 or 8 players. granted 1 of them is demers, but i think he will just take murray's salary.

So now that we can talk about hockey again, our line up currently looks like this:
Marleau-Thornton-Pavelski
Clowe-Couture-Havlat
Galiardi-Handzus-Wingels
XXX-Desjardins-Burish
Vlasic-Burns
Stuart-Boyle
Murray-Braun
Demers
Niemi
Greiss
Who will fill the 4th line LW spot? Who gets bought out?

Teams can buy out 2 players now? Or is that after the season?

I think I read that they would have to be used prior to the 2013-14 season but not before this June.

How many of the these guys are in game shape or at least have played competitive games recently enough (Couture) that they could be in game shape relatively quickly?
Thornton
Pavelski
Couture
Handzus - like it matters
Wingels
Galiardi(?)
Braun(?)
Demers - prior to injury
Niemi(?)
Greiss(?)
Is that it?

It's not necessary. They have two buyouts to use. If they want to keep him, they can. I'd rather buyout Stuart or Burish if it meant keeping Boyle or getting legitimate value for him. They don't need to trade him for picks/prospects or treat him like a cap dump.

Is it likely that Freddie Hamilton will be called up? I want to see what he can do.

We should sign Gomez for 750k when he gets bought out next season. Perfect for 4th line duty.

Sheppard or Kennedy. No one should be bought out. The only "bad" contract is Burish and that's not gonna happen.
