Soon I discovered that this rock thing was true.
Jerry Lee Lewis was the Devil.
Jesus was an architect previous to his career as a prophet.
All of the sudden I found myself in love with the world,
So there was only one thing that I could do, was
Ding-a-ding-dang my dang-a-long-ling-long.

RIP Mike Scaccia.

------------------------------------------------------

Music: Rock, metal, industrial, grunge, neue deutsche Härte.
Song of birth year: Sabbath Bloody Sabbath by Black Sabbath.
Plays: Bass guitar, guitar, programming, limited keyboards. Sometimes when I drink enough I think I can sing, but I've had microphones taken away from me onstage.
Lived the full-time rock'n'roll dream from the late 80's to late 90's, then woke up and realized I had a wife and kid. Quit drugs, finished education and got job in totally unrelated field to music and what I went to school for. Yeah, I know. Could've done that better.

Hate country, rap, and the vast majority of what's considered popular music now.

Autotune gives me a rash.

The Who and the Stones kicked ten different colours of **** out of the Beatles.

Paul McCartney couldn't carry John Entwistle's guitar case on his very best day.

Live and Let Die is still the best thing McCartney ever did.

We didn't know the hair metal was so lame and cheezy in the 80's. We really didn't. Look, disco was the coolest thing on the planet in 1977, okay? That's what we had as an example.

Favourite Genre: 60s and 70s.
Favourite Band(s) or Artist(s): Beatles, Eagles, Led Zeppelin, Foreigner, Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, Patty Cline, Diana Krall, Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder, a couple of rap artists from the 90s, The Dan Band, Lonely Island, Weird Al Yankovic, and a guilty pleasure, Air Supply
Favourite Songs: Stairway to Heaven, New York Minute, Hotel California, The Thrill is Gone, Baby Come Back, Superstition, California Dreamin', Pastime Paradise, etc.
Best Album(s) ever made: Foreigner, the debut album of Foreigner.
Least Favourite Genre: Country
Least Appreciated Band or Artist(s): I thought it meant who you think is underrated, but now I see it as who you don't like.
In that case, it would be Hedley, whose voice I can't stand.
Most Over-appreciated song: I will always love you, which is way overplayed
A song that you like from and artist you don't like: Nothing yet.
Favourite Song from your birth year: Home Sweet Home, which I didn't know about until I saw the movie Hot Tub Time Machine.
Instruments you play: None.
Musical Experience: None.
Favourite Song you made: None.

Man, I just realized my music taste is really corny.
Oh well...
It is what it is.

By the way, what do you guys think of this song?

Heard it on TV once, and I find his voice really unique.

Awful. Couldn't even get through her CD. And don't even make me get into her backstory, but do google if you are interested.

This gave me a good laugh when i read it back when her album came out: http://www.buzzfeed.com/gavon/26-mea...ana-del-reys-n #6 and 26 kill me.

The only good thing Lana Del Rey has given the music community is a laugh and funny .gifs

Sorry if i come off as a snob, but this is truly one of the few artists (if she can call herself that) that I don't respect.

No worries.
She is the pretentious snob, not you.
I look at her like those wannabe art house directors, whose projects are only meant to shock and confuse, but actually has no depth and are basically junk.

#26 on the list of quotes sounds about right.
They are also right that it is one of those mainstream albums that dresses itself up like an arthouse or indie project, but it is just so transparent that anyone can see through it.

To the fans of Tupac:
What do you think his greatest song is?
Personally I think it is "Me and my Girlfriend."
But I like to read other people's opinion.

For me it's a tie between "Changes" and "Until the End of Time".

Yeah 'My Block' is one of his better ones from his newer albums but its hard to pick a song from his newer stuff considering they just took his raps and threw on some catchy tunes/beats to finish songs i believe (since he was dead). and considering the tune and chorus are whats catchy in that song and not sure how much he had to do with that, well its just not the same

The chorus is my least favourite part, although I'm admittedly a big fan of that beat. What I really love about that song is how it effectively plays as a requiem for his thug life lifestyle. You can also count me in the crowd that preferred his slower, calmer style of delivery, which he worked to perfection in this track.

Love this thread idea. Here's mine:

Favourite Genre: Probably hard rock or blues rock but I'm not too picky.
Favourite Band(s) or Artist(s): Van Halen, Big Sugar, Oasis, Big Wreck, the Stones, old Aerosmith, Zeppelin, Blue Rodeo, White Stripes/Jack White, Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits Jeff Healey etc..
Favourite Songs: Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground - White Stripes, Dear Mr. Fantasy - Big Sugar (cover of Traffic), You could be mine - GNR, The Oaf, Ladylike, Under the Lighthouse - Big Wreck, Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits etc etc etc..
Best Album(s) ever made: Van Halen I, Houses of the Holy - Zeppelin, various stones albums, partial to Sticky Fingers, Exile and Voodoo Lounge, In Loving Memory Of.. - Big Wreck, Hemi-Vision - Big Sugar and many other assorted artists.
Least Favourite Genre: Most of that awful rap-rock that came out in the late '90s, Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock, etc. Yfgh.
Least Appreciated Band or Artist(s): Plenty.
Most Over-appreciated song: Jump - Van Halen. Love the band, hated the song and the direction it took them in.
A song that you like from and artist you don't like: I've been known to tap my foot occasionally when a Katy Perry song comes on.
Favourite Song from your birth year: Money for Nothing - Dire Straights
Instruments you play: Guitar
Musical Experience: Farting around in our spare room with my three guitars (current setup, I've owned more than 50), amp (would like a better one) and loads of effects.
Favourite Song you made: I've written lots.. unfortunately they're all in my head. Most of them are just freeform blues and rock riffs.

New group i just came across, the song was on an episode of Cougar Town heh

Theres also an acoustic version of that song which is pretty good, though im biased because i prefer acoustic

Not going to classify them a favorite but figured i'd share as its always nice to find a new artist/group to listen to. Noticed they didn't have all that many views so probably not that big

I'd say it's not all that different than MGMT, The XX, etc

Bump worthy thread.

Any novelty/ guilty pleasure songs you guys enjoy?
There are 2 songs that pop right into my head...
I probably can't post them here, but they are by Sir Mix-a-lot and Divinyls.
Knowledgeable folks can probably guess what they are.

The songs are terrible, but they are pretty fun, and I use them to liven up the room.

I've got a ton, but I'll limit it to not embarrass myself.

Sandstorm by Da Rude. Brings me back to my clubbing days and also has been Wanderlei Silva's walkout song forever.

Time After Time - Cyndi Lauper. Don't really have a good reason for this one.
