Obviously Seth Jones is the more highly regarded and known prospect but Nurse is also a potential first rounder. What is the big separating factor between these two defenceman?
Jones offensive ability, size, reach, physical potential and poise with the puck are a few things that separate him from any other D at this point for me.

The other points probably yes you can argue for but Jones is not bigger than Nurse nor does he have more physical potential.

Nurse will be bigger and more physical but Jones beats him, by quite a bit , in all of the other categories.
Jones presence is also going to be big enough on the back end to be more important than the physical game Nurse has, depending on the NHL rules staying the same and not changing.

While I would give the edge to Jones in most categories, Nurse might be closer to him than you think.

I agree Jones' poise is likely unparalleled among defenceman, Offensive potential there is a few defenceman who have arguably a higher offensive upside. I'm not entirely sure Jones is a better skater than Nurse though, it's close.

I was very impressed with Nurse last year as an underage at the IIHF U18's.
I didn't come away really the same about Jones but there is no denying he is an elite prospect. Perhaps Jones is a 'jack of all trades', but maybe not great at one thing in particular? Another '94 d-man seemed to outshine him again in Trouba. Last year it was Dumba at the U18's.

You must've only watched the stat sheet at last year's u18s. Dumba was offensively superb, but was exposed left and right defensively and made to look like Swiss cheese. Jones was more steady and had a more positive impact at the tourney overall with rock solid defensive play.

I'd add that he was also a force of nature in that gold medal game.

Jones excels in just about everything.
Nurse is really climbing up after his disapointing rookie season but he's simply not as talented as Jones.
Nurse's offensive upside is hard to get a read on. In the game today, the Soo seemed to go with Sproul and Miller as their point men on the PP. So I'm not sure how much Nurse is relied upon for his offense.
Nurse looked about the third best defenseman on the Soo, while Jones has looked like the best defenseman on his team any time I've seen him.
Can't really add anything to the argument but I will say that Nurse is a beast in NHL 13 Be a GM mode when you draft him. Plus you don't even have to have a high pick as he usually gets drafted somewhere in the 20-25th pick range.
Just wanted to say that for anyone that plays the game.

They relied on him for offense when Sproul was out. He shot up the rankings in that time because he showed that he was more than capable of providing that.
