I mean, you need at least 15 player adds just to keep your team strong from guys going on IR... so you're allowed 5 non-injury adds for the entire season?

If people want more trades to happen, work other teams, send proposals out to everyone, let people know who is on your trading block and what position you're looking to improve. I'm in a fantasy baseball league that allows 3 player adds a week (but unlimited on the season) and it has the intended effect everyone is looking for - people don't pick up a zillion players, but you're still limited enough to not go crazy (I missed out on picking up Mike Trout because I had already grabbed Matt Joyce... fail).

I did a league a couple years back that was real fun - essentially the positions were the exact same you'd see on a hockey team any given night:

C, C, C, C
LW, LW, LW, LW
RW, RW, RW, RW
D, D, D, D, D, D
G, G

That was fun because you were much more likely to take risks on your 4th winger and 6th defenseman.
I agree Limiting the number of waiver pickups would cause even less activity then we have now.
I want to do a keeper i think that would make ppl trade and do more

If we do a keeper league, what about adding a prospect draft?

Do a 3 round prospect draft where you can pick any player from the last two NHL entry drafts. You keep those players in your 'farm system' (or can trade them for future picks or active roster players) until you activate them to your roster. They're yours until you put them on your roster or until they play 50 gms in the NHL, at which point they go to the waiver wire.

Again, Yahoo may not allow that type of customization, but we can track it in a google docs sheet or something.

I'm in, providing there's a vacant spot available.

I'm in a keeper league in Yahoo. We started last year and traded draft picks for this year. Also, at the end of the year we had a prospect draft for prospects to be added to the team this year. We don't have farm teams, we just have really large teams and keep players and prospects on it. For example I have Kirill Kabanov on my team. The problem with Yahoo is that not all prospects are listed so some of the guys won't be found. But this year, after we decide which players we would like to keep, you would be able to draft most of the prospects from the 12 draft before the season begins.

Yahoo does allow for a keeper draft. I think we will go the keeper route. I assume i will be a gm along with puck again.

that makes less sense to me. WEre bettor off doing it on a shorter season. this way if we dont care for it we only lose some time not a entire season

Friday is a bad day for me to draft. I also think this is the perfect season to try and change things up a little bit. I feel like we need to get people into it more. The last few seasons not much has gone down. a shortened season seems like the best time to do such

If we had more time to discuss and figure it out, I would agree. Being that we are crunched for time, I think we need to stick to what we know and switch it next year

I'm easy for whatever given the screwed up season. A weeknight vs weekend is easier for me to draft, but I'll go with the flow.

If anyone on this board wants an invite I'd send em one - worst case you increase the number of teams. Interested managers should at least leave their e-mail addresses so we can get a general idea of how many new people want to join.
