Talk about getting revenge. Minnesota up 3-0 on BC with 6 mins left in the 1st. Beautiful goal by Bjugstad!

Thomas Spelling loaned to Allsvenskan (SEL-2). Will be good for his development to get some real minutes and play in a producing line.

Thank god. He was rotting away in the J20 and playing like 3 shifts in his handful of SEL games. He's been clamoring for this loan so hopefully he seizes the opportunity.

EDIT: From what I can see the initial loan period is just for four games. Oskarshamn may extend the loan after that, depending on how things go. That's what I got from the translated news release. Oskarshamn has a game today, he's supposed to play in it.

Fast picked up an assist today. Lindberg was held pointless. Both HV71 (Fast) and SAIK (Lindberg) won by the same score 2-0 against Timrċ and Luleċ respectively.

I'm a long-time lurker and very few time poster.. but I was wondering if anyone can give me an update on Calle Andersson. I haven't read his name in a while. I think he's one of our more interesting prospects going forward.

He bounced between the big club and junior club to start the year, but has been settled in on the big club for well over a month now. Injuries actually lead to him seeing first pairing minutes. All reports that were posted here seemed to indicate he looked pretty solid. I haven't seen him play myself so I can't comment beyond that.

Not sure anyone has seen this but I thought it was a good sign:

Quote:
European Pro

Oscar Lindberg, C – Skelleftea HC (SEL)
Drafted 2nd round, 57th overall, 2010 by Phoenix
Acquired by New York Rangers, May 8th, 2011

Now in his fourth season of Elitserien hockey, Oscar Lindberg is experiencing a breakout year offensively. Through 32 games, the 21-year-old center has 10 goals and 16 assists, matching his point totals from the previous three seasons combined. More importantly, the offense is not coming at the expense of his two-way game, which remains Lindberg’s greatest asset.

Inked to an entry-level deal by the Rangers in the 2012 off-season, Lindberg is expected to come to North America for the 2013-14 season. His smart two-way play and excellent faceoff abilities should complement the Rangers well.

Nice, I'm assuming he would continue to play C when he comes over?

one of his biggest assets is that he's a beast on faceoffs...so unless he comes over and can't win a draw anymore i think its pretty strong that he'll remain at center.

His style of play (and not just the face-off ability) is very much made to play center. He's a natural center, more so than someone like Boyle or Miller.

Thanks. Definitely nice to have another option at center.

I'd like to give a shout out and a thank you to Jesper Fasth and Oscar Lindberg for being essentially the only two prospects in our system that have exceeded expectations up to this point (maybe Miller to an extent) this season.

For a lockout there was not a whole lot to be excited about as a Ranger fan.

Not enough noise has been made about him. When I brought him up, the idea was shut down because it is supposedly very easy to become a first liner in Michigan. But it's not that easy, no matter whether the team is strong or not. He's playing D1 hockey as an 18-year-old freshman. Being a first liner is an excellent start to his career, and the fact that he can keep it up as a first liner and prove that he can do a decent job there is a very good sign.

As for Nieves, who had two goals and six assists in his first 13 college games, Berenson sees a bright future.

“He’s a great kid,” Berenson said, “and he’s really in sync with college hockey and what we’re trying to do, being a good student and a good player. I see a kid who has got breakaway speed at times. He’s got a great sense of on-ice vision. He sees plays. Right now, I think he’s a pass-first player, but he also looks to jump into holes. He’s got a good shot and that’s something we’re after him to use more.”

With his 19th birthday around the corner, Nieves still has time to learn and grow, and after talking to a Michigan alum on campus, he knows he has time to use it.

I'd like to try a Fasth-Lindbergh-Miller line next season. Would be fun to watch how they're doing on a line that is good defensively while also having the asset of Fasth's speed and Miller's all around play. Potentially could give opposing forwards nightmares.

The Rangers will have a decision on their hands next season with Miller. He is a good 2-way player but with Richards, Stepan and Boyle already on the NHL roster, and an older player like Lindberg looking like he is ready or close to ready to be a solid 3rd line center, where will he play? I know he can play wing, and does it well, but one has to wonder. Move Boyle to wing?

Brian Boyle cannot stand in the way of JT Miller's development. Either Boyle is moved to 4th line center or wing where he belongs or he is moved out. JT will be on that third line sooner than later.

I think it's more likely Miller eventually flanks Boyle and we have Lindberg start on the 4th line.
