Tyler Myers or Right Handed Shutdown Dman to Detroit
Also, while I'm at it... Also interested in a right handed Dman who can play top four minutes in a shut down role effectively IE Michalek.
I don't see anything on the Wings that would make the Sabres consider moving Myers, quite frankly I don't think there are many players DR would move him for, The only move I could see with Buffalo and Detroit is Sekera.
People seem to forget that Myers is already a legit top pair guy at the age of 22 who hasn't really scratched his potential yet.
I don't think Detroit has anything Buff would be willing to part with Myers for. They see him as a franchise Dman.
Even with Dats and Z on the table, what sense does that make for Buff? Trade away what is in their minds their franchise defender for the next decade for a couple years of help at forward? Why would they consider that?
They make terrible trading partners. Myers would command a king's ransom on the market, and Detroit doesn't have the chips to get it done.
In order to get Myers, Detroit would have to give up Zetterberg+, which I'm sure is a nogo for Wings fans.

For that year-and-a-half, all it takes is for somebody to write an article and then you start to believe it and you think you are not playing great, and then it is not as much fun coming to the rink. That was the biggest difference. At that point, I wasn't enjoying it all. Going through what I did, I think I appreciated it more. It made me a better person and player going through that." - Paul Martin
You are better off trying to get Seth Jones(unlikely) or Ryan Pulock in the draft, teams with big young defenceman are not looking to move them very often, you need to draft one or get lucky it seems.

Why would they want Zetterberg when they have Girgensons and Grigorenko in the on deck circle? My nonstarters are players both Detroit needs and Buffalo wouldn't want in the first place. We have an incredible glut of very talented forwards in our system. You also forget Brendan Smith is also a first rounder, so he carries some significant value as well.
I would love to throw one of Volchenkov or Tallinder your way. We are pretty up front, so a forward would have to come back our way.
I don't know what it would take to land someone like Franzen or Filppula but those two would be on high on my "wish list". One of our d-men (Tallinder or A-Train) + a prospect I would imagine?

If you could teach either of them to shoot righthanded, I'd be very interested. We have too many lefthanders though... We'd definitely be very good partners if they were righthanded shooters.

Myers for Datsyuk is likely fair, given that Datsyuk likely only has another 2-3 years in NA.
Datsyuk's likely to bolt for the KHL the moment his contract is up, so that's hardly fair for Buffalo. He also has a NTC that I'd doubt he waive. Zetterberg is our Captain. So that's an absolute no go.
You kidding me? He's show no such signs of slowing down which would indicate that. I'd say he has almost 5 years at the top left.
Datsyuk isn't going to go to Russia for the just the downward slope of his career. He loves it there, and if you ask many wings fans they're a little scared he won't sign another NA contract.
Right now he's in no rush to return until the agreement is ratified. It is a good time to trade him.

To some fans it would make sense to trade him now when his value is still high but I don't think Holland will ever trade him. He just doesn't work that way. He will wait until the day his contract is up and shake his hand while he's thanking him for everything he has done for the Wings.
Would something around:
Filppula + Tatar + Ouellet + 1st
Myers
I can't see them trading him but would this be close to fair value.

Volchenkov has been playing the right side most of his career and Tallinder looks as good on the right side then he does on the left.
Anyways, the Devils will most probably swing a deal cause we have 8 d-men under contract ATM who can all play at the NHL level (Salvador, Tallinder, Zidlicky, Larsson, Volchenkov, Greene, Fayne and Harrold) and we're real thin up front.

Then I suppose we can start talks then. Give me a proposal.
