Why break up the Coburn - Grossmann pairing? It was our best pairing down the stretch

I think it'd be interesting to see a Schenn/Timonen pairing.

Coburn/Grossmann
Schenn/Timonen
Mez/Gus or Gervais

Depends on how Meszaros can bounce back.

Hey, we've got a CBA. I know it was nice being united for a few months, but I wanted to come to your board and say **** YOU. Let's Go Pens! But seriously. Love you guys and can't wait to get back to hating each other on the regular. Good luck this year, stay healthy, and hope to see you in the ECF.

Curious, does anyone know if Luke Schenn put himself back into shape, as in lost some weight?

Let's just hope he isn't on the Gary Roberts plan of Get Big, Get Slow.

Haven't heard much of anything about Luke this lockout.

Only thing I know was that he was skating and working out in BC with some friends (I think Weber was one of them).

im not a fan of Sestito. I still dont think he has learned to go to that line and not cross it. He seems to get baited into stupid hockey quite easily. Yes hes a big guy. But he sucks.
Rinaldo had gained the trust of Laviolette. If used right Rinaldo can be a effective player.

Haven't the phantoms been using Rinaldo on the penalty kill?

How was that working?

Hartnell/Giroux/Voracek
Schenn/Briere/Simmonds
Talbot/Couts/Read
Feds/Laughton?/Sestito
Rinaldo

Kimmo/Coburn
Schenn/Grossmann
Gervais/Mez
Lilja
Gervais and Schenn both are right-handed and prefer playing on the right side. Walker also plays on the right. Grossmann, Coburn, Timonen, Meszaros, and Lilja are lefties and prefer playing on the left side, although both Coburn and Meszaros have some experience playing on the right side due to the lack of left-handed defensemen on our roster.

Personally, I like Coburn with Grossmann, Timonen with Schenn, and Meszaros with Gervais/Gustafsson/Bourdon/Lilja/Walker.

Timonen seems like the logical partner for Schenn--didn't hehave his best season paired with Kaberle?

I have followed the Phantoms less this year than ever. Which is quite a surprise since there has not been any NHL to watch. I guess I just couldn't be excited about hockey without the Flyers.

I think so

I expect a bounce back season for Luke. He was misused by an incompetent coaching staff in TO, so a change of scenery should do him good

Timonen-Schenn
Coburn-Gorssmannnnnnnnnnnnnn
Mezsaros-Lilja/Gus/Gervais

We have a nice blueline as long as everyone stays healthy (doubtful).

Mez actually prefers playing on the right side for one-timers. Coburn has gotten comfortable on the right side, but he can easily shift over. Bourdon played all of last year on the right side, but who knows when/if he'll see the ice.

Since coming to Philadelphia Coburn only played on the right.
First with Hatcher, then with Timonen and last season with Grossmann. I'm not so sure he can slide over easily.

My Lineup:

Hartnell - Giroux - Voracek
Schenn - Briere - Simmonds
Read - Couturier - Talbot
Sestito - Feds - Cousins

Coburn - Grossmann
Timonen - Schenn
Meszaros - Manning

I like Schenn getting big minutes because I think he can make a comeback. Playing with Timonen could be huge. Coburn and Grossmann were awesome together when they were both going and I think Manning has more potential than Bourdon... I'd put Gus there if he wasn't currently injured.

yeah i hear you. I go to the games in Manchester and I usually go 2 or 3 games a month at least depending on my work schedule. Havent been to a game in Manchester since the first weekend in November. I pretty much just look at the scores and thats about it. Been a pretty meh year for me as well.
May take a bit to get "the juices flowing" again. Probably the first time the Flyers and Pens play.

If you can play your off side, you can play anywhere. It's easier because you are on your forehand most of the time as opposed to your backhand. With him not being an offensive guy, you aren't losing much sliding him over. That said, I don't think they will move him because they are still left handed heavy in the top 4, but if they acquire a top 4 RHD, I wouldn't be shocked to see him move over.

This is my line up, Tinker with Rinaldo or Wellwood maybe. I want Kimmo with Schenn as well.

Pk units of Couts-Read-Feds-Talbot also nice. Give G rest and only use him if we need a shorty.

Well according to Sam Car, Briere said theres a chance he might not play the first two games due to two different injuries.

Time to guess the starting day roster lineup.

Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Simmonds-Schenn-xxxx
Feds-Couturier-Read
Rinaldo/Sestito/Wellwood-Talbot-Wellwood/Sestito/Rinaldo

Maybe they just throw Wellwood on the 3rd or 2nd line. Either way I do think they should use Giroux-Schenn-Couturier. Maybe even my boy Noebels makes the squad

Noebels didn't even make the Phantoms out of camp. For the wrong reasons, but still. Even with the end of a lockout, I'm sure you don't go from ECHL to NHL that fast unless you were a veteran player
