I am I am I was lazy I admit...I could post some links to articles on the subject later...but I have in the past I guess that's why I was lazy and didn't feel like doing it again.

Not jumping in on the whole argument going on here, just wondering...you really go through the whole day, from breakfast to dinner, with only a glass of chocolate milk/protein shake?

Meh I guess some of us don't have that worry. I tend to be confident by nature I guess and just find it weird that having to be "jacked" full of muscle will make a person more confident. Or that someone needs to be dressed to the nines to be confident and cannot be confident in a pair of jeans and a Tshirt.

Buddah, your pot pie point is wrong. 1 cup of fresh peas has about 115 calories, and one cup of canned peas are pushing 140 calories... Not to mention all the extra sodium and salt, as well as any residual affect it might have by having you drink more liquid from the salt if you're drinking anything other than water.

You don't have to be jacked. But if I guy was overweight his whole life with low self esteem because of it and started working out, started looking better, and started getting treated better - I don't see how he wouldn't get more confident.

So you're saying that you're at your effective maximum confidence level at all times?

Would you be at the same level of confidence if you weighed 500 lbs and couldn't climb a flight of stairs without soaking your shirt with sweat? Or if you weighed 95 lbs and looked like a rack of bones?

I can see the point but I guess it has never been an issue for me. When I was 240lbs or now when I am 190lbs I don't see a difference in how I approach life or situations that would require confidence. I've always gone into dates, or a job interview, or doing a presentation in front of a group with the same confidence.

Edit: the presentation I will admit is something I hated as a kid but am fine with as an adult as per post below.

You could be confident to begin with and then become more confident after you become jacked or start dressing to the nines.

And like Kittenmittons said, it is nature. You never hear girls say "Oh my god, did you see that guy? He had no muscle and or definition and didn't know how to dress! I wish he would **** my brains out". Not that you should base your entire confidence off of girls, there are tonnes of other examples in everyday life where those things should increase your confidence.

And for me it isn't a matter of confidence anymore, it is a matter of self-improvement and making the best version of you evident, and trying to separate yourself from those around you in all aspects of life.

Is Buddah trying to lose or gain weight?

It honestly doesn't seem like enough food for either.

I know a dude that is about 6'4 and 320 lbs and it ain't muscle but he is as confident as anyone I know and he gets the ladies with ease. Same with another buddy who is on the opposite end, he is only 5'6 and fairly thin but he has no problem chatting up people, especially the ladies, when we are out at bars etc.

Like I said I can see how it might affect some people but we are all made differently and there are a lot of people that do not care about their weight or height etc and just exude confidence. I'm pretty darn confident in myself and my abilities but I know many people that are far more confident in themselves then I am. For me it is less to do with looks and more to do with having the knowledge of something. So I hated to do presentation in school growing up but I learned early that the more I was prepared for them the more confident I became. So maybe that can be seen as similar as having more confidence when a person is thinner?

What are you're goals? Starting and target weights? How tall?

And what is caloric intake per day?

Wide-grip pullups for the first time today since I got chronic tendonitis of the subscapularis and biceps tendons in July

Been so ****ing careful since, but finally feel able to do virtually anything in the gym again (except dips, so wary of those ****ers)

4 sets of 10 with good form as well, so haven't lost too much from having to do other back exercises instead

I am 185, about 5'10/5'9. I want to get into better shape and down to 170-175 in a month and a half or two months. Then bulk up, looking to get to about 190 (long-term goal).

I am ingesting 2100-2200 calories a day right now (roughly about 170-70-170 - carbs, fat, protein). Will bump up much more after I lose the weight.
