When he left the KHL, he was on a good hot streak.

The defense is much more improved over last year.

The defense will get even better when Meszaros returns to action.

We have coburn, grossmann, timonen, schenn, gustafsson, and meszaros. Plus lilja and gervais as the 7th and 8th defenseman.

Timonen will be able to play better due to the shortened schedule and not being asked to play all those minutes that he was asked to play last year.

Coburn finally seems to finally be putting all his tools together to make himself better

Grossmann will be paired with coburn and will hopefully continue playing the way they played the last 22 games of the season plus the playoffs.

Schenn's main problem in Toronto was that he was asked to put on too much weight too quickly. He's more than likely been working on cutting that down to get faster.

Gustafsson has been playing pretty well in the AHL and he was pretty good in the playoffs last year when we needed him.

Meszaros hopefully could get back to the 2010-11 season Meszaros after he returns from his injuries

Meszaros should be ready to go around the time the season starts or maybe a few games later.

As for gustafsson, from what I've seen he just took a puck off the foot or ankle and there's no real damage.

From metlzer :
Quote:
Gustafsson has missed the last couple weeks with an ankle injury sustained while blocking a shot. He practiced, albeit sparingly, last week so he should be ready to join the Flyers. The status of his Adirondack defense partner and Flyers teammate, Marc-Andre Bourdon is less clear. Bourdon is still sidelined indefinitely due to concussion-like symptoms.

I saw today that Gus had a set back and is back on crutches. He might not be ready to go.
