Would that make any sense for Anahein to make that trade? Since they don't have a lot of top6 forwards they could use some more.
To MTL: Bobby Ryan
To Dallas: Tomas Plekanec + Brian Gionta + 2nd
That would be a terrible trade for the Habs. Ryan is younger than Plekanec, not sure I'd even do that 1 for 1 let alone throw in a 2nd rounder or Gionta.

Why would you not trade Plekanec for Ryan????
By adding Gionta it also free up 5M
By amking that trade you force the team to keep an 18 year old as #2 center then it's a bad deal.
I wouldn't swap Plekanec for Ryan because Ryan is high maintenance and not really a guy you win with. People want to dump Bourque because he is inconsistant and soft well Ryan is dependant on guys like Perry and Getzlaf to produce and he is softer than Bourque. Plekanec is a multi faceted player who competes hard every night and you can count on. No way you move him without a ridiculous offer.
It's ridiculous to dump your captain just to open up cap space...especially when you need his 25+ goals and you have TWO Amesty Buyouts next summer. makes no sense at all.
On top of that your giving the Mighty Ducks a 2nd rounder.
Great, Bertran Raymond and a blog from September. Those aren't sources for anything relevant to the present.
Subban is such a cool guy, I don't think there's really anything Flyers would give me for him that would be acceptable. Couturier and a 1st - well, their 1st isn't that great, and it just would leave such a vacancy on our blueline, I'd pass even at that threshold. It's got to be a non-starter. Subban should be a Hab for life.

Subban will be a Hab for life. BOOK IT.
I wonder if Dallas would be willing to give their 1st pick in 2013 for plekanek. It could be a high pick and they could make him play with Jagr. We would have a chance for two TOP10 picks in 2013 with that trade.

It is, and I don't even think Philly would offer it. But it still just creates a new headache for us on D, and I wouldn't want to go there. It's not guaranteed by any stretch that Beaulieu is going to be able to make it, let alone approach Subban, for example, or that we can find an alternative top pairing D all that easily. I think it might generally be a little easier to approximate Couturier up front than to approximate a good D.
I'd do Plekanec 2nd for Sharp at Chicago. They need a 2nd line center and we need a scoring winger. I think Chicago would be the best trading partner for Plek since the caps got Ribeiro.

I'm quite sure McDonagh is the one he would want to trade.
Couturier simply have too much value right now. I'd look at other directions for our top 2 lines.
Couturier is a good young player but I think the Flyers would trade him for Subban in a heartbeat. d-men like Subban are usually not even available(and I don't think he actually is) just look at what Dallas paid for Goligoski and Subban is already better and has more upside.
Only a Habs fan would think Diaz & Kaberle for Johnson is a doable trade.
Gallagher, Holland & Bournival for one of Columbus' firsts won't get done. Too much of the unknown. Neither team really knows what they're getting and what they're giving up.
Thanks for your input, since Johnson was injured he's not the offensive machine Colorado thought he'd be and they need a defenceman that can produce significant offence.Diaz is that player onice he's been a force this year in Europe and will be better in his sophomore season in the NHL.Kaberle's forte since coming to the NHL has been just that he may be older but can still produce on a 2nd PP. The fact is that dealing unknown quantities in the NHL is done all the time and good GM's know what they want and can predict prospects upsides that's their job.

I agree. I don't think he's untouchable, but certainly an over payment would be required.
I believe his value has only gone up with the maturity he's demonstrated this off-season.
With Visnovsky ****ing over the Isles, Bergy needs to be talking with Snow non-stop because we could get them to overpay for a Weber or a Kaberle. Their defence is paper thin:
MacDonald-Hamonic
Streit-Carkner (LOL)
...and no one else aside from a bunch of kids.
