Don't see how the KHL and NHL agreement will not stop this
Not sure, but maybe the KHL will claim that his contract was not subject to the agreement due to the fact that the he was locked out when he signed with the KHL?

I don't know if there are any grievance procedures built into the KHL/NHL agreement, so I don't know if NHL will really want to push this.

Toll that ****! I don't want this guy ever playing in the NHL without donning an Isles uni first.

Well without Visnovsky this is how our D looks.

Streit-Carkner
Hamonic-MacDonald
x-x

Donovan and Ness would probably fill those spots. That would be horrid. Snow is going to have to act quick.

Go after Keith Ballard. Could probably come cheap

For players that were locked out, they signed deals in the KHL with out clauses as soon as the lockout was done.

The lockout is done so he should have to return to his team.

Crushing blow....lose a top-4 defenseman and a 2nd round pick in a good draft (would have had a ton of trade value) for nothing.

This guy is a liar before he is anything else. He will never live that down in the NHL. Was this his plan before the trade or did playing for the Islanders drive him to this decision? Curious...

I don't think we can blame Lubomir... We have to blame the NHL and NHLPA. Without the lockout this should never have happened. Vis had the opportunity to move home, with his family. Ofcourse they want to stay now, he is 37 years old.

Well well, let's see if we get our pick back. I hope so.

Carkner on the first line, I highly doubt it.

I am just angry, what a m***** ****ing **** ****ing piece of ****. He just needed any excuse. His agent is just saving face. What dumb piece of **** team would take a chance at him now if he comes back to the NHL.

As a nucks fan I would love to hear you Isles fans start a discussion on this, eg. what kind of assets the Isles would be willing to invest on him. With Isles as my favorite Eastern Conference team I'd love to see Ballard set the playing time/fresh start he needs and to help him stabilize your back-end a bit..

You'd think a 37 year old would understand his obligation to his contract and honor it, instead of ditching it because hometown puppy dogs and rainbows make him feel butterfly excitement in his emotional tummy.

I disagree. Nobody holds themselves accountable anymore. He knew what was up before he moved there. Should not have got comfortable and planned to use it as an excuse. Most other players move away from their families to honor their contracts because that is the "honorable" thing to do. Half a season left to go and he bailed.

Doesn't matter what combination you use. It's terrible either way. Point is he need to acquire a defensemen now

In other words, give the benefit of the doubt to the guy who shirks his contract. He may well have done w/o the lockout. He was already making comments about it. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, but he no longer deserves it.

I somehow missed how 37 years old is old. It's old? Is fulfilling the back end of frontloaded contracts only expected, say, of people under 33? 34? 32? 29?

Cheers,

Dan-o

Tough to say. I have seen some Canuck fans suggest Matt Martin or Frans Nielsen. From my stand point that would be a big no. I would suggest a Mid-Range prospect and a 3rd rd pick

Absolute *********. Anaheim gets away with a free high 2nd round pick and the Islanders get ****ed. NHL is back, reality is back.

He could be surprisingly good with us. I don't want to give up anything of value for him though.

I hope. I would like that.

Is Snow even allowed to work the phones yet? Or can he not even inquire about anything until the CBA gets ratified?

Are we now below the floor without Visnovsky's contract?
