How's Darren Dietz playing? Does he have any real NHL upside?

I would say he does have NHL upside, we'll see how it goes for him after a couple seasons in the AHL but he's got a number of interesting parts to his game.

Is Paul Mara (minus the epic beard) a good comparable for Dietz in styles of play?

Archambault with a G and an A. I wish he could just get over a PPG and stay there.

Not 100% confirmed, but there are reports from Europe this new CBA gives teams 4 years to sign their European draft picks.

That would be great. Many of them benefit from that extra development window at home. I would feel more comfortable taking later round flyers on some of them in that scenario.

Loved that segment with breezer. Having a guy like him around our young guys can only be a good thing.

As long as he's not the one teaching them how to fight in the corners.

Any word on the loophole considering college players?

Will be interesting to see if they grandfather this or not, if it's true. That would be great for us, since they could leave Nygren in the SEL and not have to use up one of the 50 contract spots.

I haven't heard anything on it. If not it's not closed, then we have to worry about Mac Bennett this summer, but there are 2 really interesting forwards that could opt out if they want. Anders Lee (NYI) and Eric Haula (Wild), Lee is a PF that I so badly wanted the Habs to draft, big and plays a power game with good hands. NYI have lost a few NCAA draft picks to this loop hole but I don't expect they will let Lee go so unless he thinks he's better off with another organization he likely won't be a FA but if so it would a very nice pickup imo.

Haula is from Finland but he's been a standout player at Minnesota that leads them in scoring again after a huge year last season. The Wild are loaded with prospects so if he thinks he'll be better off elsewhere perhaps he will opt out.

I'm not worried about Bennett. The D is deep for next year but it won't deter him. It's the other kid who stayed an extra year...

Pretty much. I think he's going to burst a blood vessel one of these days.

Such an odd prospect, he looked incredible in his preseason games with the habs last year. Does he just not have the hockey IQ?

Alexander Khokhlachev is officially headed back to Windsor. He's the player that centred Kerby Rychel last year when he had 41 goals. Windsor also picked up Alex Aleardi today (29 points in 39 games this year).

This means Windsor is going all in this year, which is good news for Brady Vail. Those two acquisitions increased Windsor's fire power substantially and should take some pressure of him. Hopefully this means Ho-Sang or Aleardi will play on the right wing of Vail and Johnson, should really allow Vail to start picking up the points again.

I read on twitter from one of the OHL guys that they'll most likely trade Koko...Windsor has been terrible recently and with the sanctions they need to get back some picks.

Apparently the Justin Schultz rule, which Bennett would be eligible for, still exists:

Although it's not quite what that writer tweeted.

I'd love for that to be the case, as I remember reading rumours of him headed to Sarnia, but this says otherwise:

Quote:
Wsr GM Warren Rychel on trading Khokhlachev:"Teams (are) interested but I think we’re just going to stand pat here and try to make playoffs"
Source

Also, the Spits GM is Kerby Rychel's father, I'm sure he wants to see his son get drafted as high as possible, so I can't see him trading the centre that he put up big numbers with. But you never know, so we'll see what happens.

I've only seen him a couple times but I could see him getting a contract this summer as I think he's shown decent improvement since he was drafted.

Was hoping it would be changed. Don't want to lose Bennett or MacMillan in 2014.
