Barring some injuries, I don't expect to see more than one or two actual Dogs' players on the Habs line up on Jan.19. Possibly Dumont and/or Blunden.

Bergevin said they expect 25-30 players up for the training camp, so there will be a few dogs or other kind of tryouts there.

My guess would be Leblanc, Palushaj (if able), Gallagher, Dumont, and then St. Denis, and Tinordi & Beaulieu mainly for the experience and to see where they're at. Neither Tinner or Beaulieu would make the team though. Dumont could be given a good look seeing as he's been playing quite well for the dogs lately, but I don't know how management will tackle Leblanc. Personally I would let Gallagher continue playing in the AHL for the year, and bring him up with Gally next year.

Tinordi, Ellis, and Beaulieu are not ready imo, but giving them each 2 game callups to play on the third pairing would be good for their development.

Gally's got a couple scraps under his belt that add to it, I've watched every Dogs game and he really never stuck out as a guy who takes bad penalties to me. He's always engaged after the whistle, people taking shots at him constantly since he's always right on top of the goalie and rushing the net. That leads to some PIMs too. I would not say that is a concern area for him though, not from what I've seen.

Just checked - He has 5, 7, and 16 min PIM games and 46 PIMs total. Not many minors you can see. Also, in his last 10-15 games he has taken about 1-2 minor penalties and had a fight. So yeah, not a problem area!

He also draws a ton of penalties by provoking retaliation. Its a style that leads to more minor penalties for him but he's probably well in the black in terms of penalties drawn/taken.

Its a lot like what a Ryan White or Alexei Emelin (a rare dman that draws more than he takes) does, its an oft under-looked part of the game. Brown in LA is the king of it.

Joey Tenute signed to a PTO: Hamilton native, played in the Austrian league last year. Has had good seasons in the AHL in the past.

How many of those minors are goalie interference penalties I wonder?

Haha, I may be wrong but in my memory he really doesn't get many. He walks the line so well IMO as a net crashing little guy. I'm sure he has one or two though, but even that doesn't seem to be a problem for him. I guess he's had years to perfect the craft though

Not many. Most I've seen from him are when someone gives him an extra shot after the whistle and he gets pissy and gives them a good thwack.

I guess the Dogs are expecting to loose one or two forwards. There is currently 17 forwards (counting Palushaj) skating with the team.

Daultan Leveille will play for @BulldogsAHL tonight. Joey Tenute will wait to make his debut. #Habs Alex Avtsin scratched as well. #GoHabsGo

This is a joke. Avtsin has done more in the AHL this year than Leveille has in the ECHL.

Even if you don't believe Avtsin does much or has much of a future here (which sadly, is probably the case), the fact that this team lacks skill and is struggling to score goals (the only reason this Joey Tenute is being brought in to begin with), I can't understand how it's Avtsin being scratched and not one of the teams grinders and plugs.

I mean Daultan Leveille over Avtsin, seriously?

At this point can we assume that the healthy scratches are in fact some camouflage paternity leave? I don't even understand why if so...

I'm sure it has something to do with how he practices. If Lefebvre doesn't like the effort Avtsin displays in those, he won't play.

As for Beaulieu, he had ups and down. Still makes at least one terrible turnover per game, and he needs to work harder in his D coverage. Offensively it started slow but it's picking up lately.

Binghamton. They're 21-8-3, obviously much better than Hamilton. The Senators brought in one heck of a class of new players this year, including the SEL's top scorer, a top 10 pick and a bunch of high end CHLers.
