Great send him to Toronto and get a first round pick back. A pick that should be high when he has his usual "October" and sinks the Leafs chances of the playoffs in a shortened season.

I kid I kid sort of.

Personally I think between the buyouts, the cap recapture stuff and possible trading of cap hit there might just be many more options for a Luongo trade than people were thinking even a week ago. Could be an interesting couple of weeks! A too good to be true deal may indeed come down the pipe to Gillis from an unexpected source. Still think the Caps would be crazy for not seriously considering acquiring Luongo. They are going into the season with inexperienced goaltenders and have assets to spare.

You can bet he didn't get mega rich wasting 10s of millions of dollars on nothing.

Duh.
But I'm saying that the Flyers owner would be much more willing to buy out Bryz than a poorer team.

They can have their pick of Luongo or Schneider if either Voracek or Simmonds is the return. Alas, Philly is not going to throw away millions by buying out Bryz now. Stupid signing it may be.

I interpreted "salary/cap hit" as "salary OR cap hit", not "salary AND cap hit". If it's the latter, you and ginner classic are certainly correct. I've asked capgeek if they can clarify.

Ugh, I think I'm done with the main page for a while. Now we're into the "it doesn't matter what you think!" responses to every proposal we dislike. I will be so happy is over and done with.

Also, Bozak being bad defensively is just a myth. There might be bad defensive players on the leafs individually, but Bozak isn't one of them.
That's my anecdotal impression of Bozak. Stat wise its impossible to verify as he spent 85% TOI with Kessel and 60%+ with Lupul. Even if he is only avg., a) he will get better here as just about every forward who has come here has had to... and b) he will have different linemates - there's a huge difference defensively speaking having Hansen and Raymond as your linemates vs Lupul and Kessel. Anyway, little downside if he's a secondary part of deal, and some upside. More or less a Lapierre or Higgins value wise and we know how that turned out for us...plus he's a center.

Except Bozak is terrible defensively and his advanced stats back this up.

Against popular sentiment I don't expect R. Luongo to be moved this season. I see frustration then compliance buy-out as likely.
Futher ammunition as to why he isn't a GM in the league.

From watching him, I think he's pretty average defensively. The problem is that he's a ****** hockey player, regardless of how he is defensively. His possession numbers are pathetic given that he plays with Kessel and Lupul most of the time. No interest. None.

It's not as if he's 22 either, he's 26. If we're going to acquire someone to push Schroeder out of the lineup, let's at least pick someone who is a clear upgrade.

Yeah that's a stupid statement, somebody should rip him on Tweeter for that one. I'd think the Canucks would trade Schneider and just hold onto Luongo before ever considering a compliance buy out.

How dumb do you even have to be to suggest a buyout as an option? We KNOW there were offers out there, they just didn't match what Gillis wanted. Did something change that suddenly no team wants Luongo?

I agree. I still see Schnieder being traded and Luongo staying.

yes, it's eklund. it has literally no bearing on reality and saying "yes i know its eklund but" means you dont actually know its eklund

Eklund has been dead on with Flyers rumors so maybe you're the one who doesn't know who Eklund actually is?

Well - as a player - he has to be up there on a list of all-time draft busts. At least he's consistant.

Bob Mac - Luongo to Tor is not guaranteed. Van may just end up keeping him.

I hope not. His value will go down if we keep him another season.

How so? What if he puts up great numbers? Besides, if all we're getting now is a deal centered around Bozak, I'm not sure how much worse it gets.

Centred around Bozak is a misleading way to represent recent rumours. Bozak/prospect/pick... I hope Bozak would be the third most valuable piece. Bozak isn't worth a lot, but he's worth something to a team with Henrik/Schroeder/Lapierre/Malhotra down the middle.

You mean Toronto will no longer offer us 4 pieces of garbage, only 3?

Perhaps if that prospect is Morgan Reilly.
