I will say that Luongo still being in Florida and not returning to Vancouver immediately after the CBA moved forward was a big sign. Unless I'm mistaken he's still hanging out in Miami.
Yeah, he's still in South Florida. In the Luongo video on TSN.ca you can tell it's the local rink where the panthers practice.
I like Connolly as well, just not for Luongo. Connolly + would be stretching it. For all the knocks on Luongo he still helps the leafs now, and more importantly, he IS an elite level goaltender.

Why the hell would the Vancouver ownership buy Luo out for $30+M when they could trade him away for nothing or throw him on waivers? Lawton just proved that he IS the completed "total bust" package. Unbelievable that there are now some who see that as a viable option for Vancouver. You can tell hockey has been gone far too long. Too many idiots have had nothing to talk about.
I'm not suggesting Connolly straight up for Luongo, nor am I trying to 'offload' Connolly, I'm just saying Connolly is a much better fit in Vancouver than Bozak.

Ive been on the "Connolly + Kulemin + Kadri" boat as of late.
TML has 9M in available cap space for this year. Don't know why they would need to make a cap dump which would expire at the end of the seaon anyways.
We dont. We will have less than that after we sign a couple guys like Franson and Ranger but still we dont need any cap relief. We also dont need to trade a player with a longer contract to be bought out as we can easily afford to do it ourselves.
If you guys want a guy like Connolly we would be happy to move him but taking him doesnt add any value to the trade.
That is better then all this buyout BS that is now being used as leverage by some media and fans who think that will scare Vancouver.

Kulemin's value is at his lowest. He'll bang in (pro rated) 20 this year (whats that then 15?)
Kadri is a wild card. Could go either way.
You have to trade something to get something though so we will see. I don't care about Lu's salary its not my money, and you don't get a top ten goalie for Mike Komisarek.

Well if Brian Lawton said it I guess it has to be taken for fact. Luongo will be bought out, Nucks get nothing, and a parade will be had in Lawton's name.

To me, Connolly makes too much sense.
Super expendable from a leafs pov. Cheap to acquire but fills holes on Vans roster.
Kadri to me is a player who holds value but is also fairly expendable from the leafs POV. (Would become our most skilled prospect)

Too much value going to Vancouver, although Connolly not so much, but Nikolai Kulemin fits right in with Randy Carlyle's style of play. Regardless, that is too much depth leaving Toronto. Never going to happen.

Its more of a "buy low" on Connolly than pay a premium for Bozak.
