I would say that Shanahan has a lot to answer for, based on the comments by Dr. Andrews.
Also, it kinda feels like RGIII is gonna be the Bo Jackson of quarterbacks...career ending injury after two or three years, yet he'll be remembered as having the potential of one of the best of all time.
The major issue was simply that Alabama was bigger, faster, more talented, deeper, better coached (granted, it's easier to coach when you have a vastly more talented team) and just plain superior. ND couldn't hang with them on offense or defense and couldn't tackle to save their lives.
I did get a kick out of the interview the ND coach gave at half time. When asked what was needed for his team to get back in the game he said something like "If Alabama doesn't come out for the 2nd half". Even he knew they were badly overmatched.
Also, anyone else get a bit creeped out by how Musberger (sp?) was drooling over McCarron's girlfriend? While she is stunning, it really came across as a dirty old man.
Yeah, I think that was a major issue. Alabama obviously didn't need any help from the officials to win that game, but there were some blatantly obvious wrong calls that made it a blowout.
While I certainly agree that Alabama was superior in every facet, ND should have had the ball on the AL 20 yard line with an opportunity to tie it at 7. Instead, AL gets it at the 35 after the penalty, and walks it in quickly to go up 14-0. Again, not that I think it would have been different...but I would have liked to see that game.
I gotta say, I love the petitions on the White House websites, simply because they show the best and worst of people.
On the one hand, the most popular petition (ie: the one with the most signatures) is "Label Westboro Baptist Church an officially recognized hate-group". It's got over 300k signatures, when all that's required for the President to look it over is 25k. That shows there are intelligent people out there that know stupidity and hate when they see it.
Of course, just about every other popular petition on the site goes against that idea, including the multiple "Allow Texas/Alabama/North Carolina/Tennessee/etc to peacefully secede from the US and form their own government" petitions.
Still, they're fun to look over, if only to see what issues are really important to some people.
