I'd be fine with O'Reilly getting paid up to 4.

Two tweets from Bob McKenzie on this situation.
I'm guessing Avs and O'Reilly hash out a deal soon.

I still don't trust Eurolanche though. Weren't they the ones that were saying that we were going to trade for Parise by giving up Giguere, Kobasew and a 1st round pick before July 1st?

2nd tweet has nothing to do with O'Reilly because he doesn't have a valid NHL contract.

I'd be very surprised if O'Reilly price himself out of the NHL. It'd be, if not career suicide, a good attempt at it.

no way he doesnt come back IMO. who the **** would want to play in Russia while NHL hockey is going on unless your just purely in it for the money, which i dont think Ryan is.

Lets be honest here guys management were probably low balling him hard after seeing the deals Johnson and Duchene signed. The guy deserves minimum 4 million IMO if guys like David Jones and Parentau are getting paid that much. My guess is we sign him for 4.25 per for 3-4 yrs

If O'Reilly happens to be one of the few NHL players that don't come back, hell must have frozen over.

Which I'm sure is what O'Reilly's agent said as well. I'm also sure Sherman's hands were a bit tied with how much money he could hand out, given they just handed out two $16M deals, plus others.

Yeah true i think we'll see them spending much more now since theres no more uncertainty surrounding the cap limits for the upcoming years. We'll be big spenders this summer.

I wouldn't worry too much about Shermy...all of us Avs fans are on a bit of an edge right now because of the situation surrounding Ryan. Most of us are huge fans of his, and want to see him continue to grow his game here in the NHL.

Of course keep us updated on anything you find out.

He is still a RFA, and won't be able to return to the NHL for 3 years without going through Colorado. If he accepts an offer sheet Colorado can easily match it.

He has a bit of leverage but only so much, unless he really does want to play his prime years in the KHL. He won't see 4M like Jones and PA because hes not a UFA. Unless of course he signs an offer-sheet for that much.

I play hockey with Brian Burke's nephew and apparently he's doing everything he possibly can to run the Leafs into the ground.

You'll care when the cap comes down and Stastny, Duchene, Landeskog, Varlamov, McGinn, and Downie all become free agents after next season.

I love having O'Reilly on this team but 5M/yr for a guy who has had one good season in the NHL? No thanks. Personally I don't believe that rumour and I think he'll probably get around 4M or a bit less but I'd trade him before giving him 5M/yr. That's ridiculous.

IF $5M/year was correct Avs only need to offer him $3,5M/year and a 3-year contract according to this verbal agreement. I don't think O'Reilly would accept less than $4M, though.

It's being reported that the Cap can't fall below 64.3 million, if HRR falls during a year more will just come out of Escrow from the players' side, but the Cap # will never fall below 64.3
