Zajac's wife and 1 year old baby live in Winnipeg.

I think he met his better half at school. Easy on the eyes too if I recall correctly.

Don't be fooled to not include money. No way on Earth was Parise getting that monster signing bonus that he did over there.

As far as we know, Zajac also doesn't have a vindictive dad who has a grudge against the team his kid plays on.

haha

That's awesome. good thing with this new CBA is that sign and trades are mildly encouraged with the extra year so some kind of compensation could be had if he leaves.

I'm sure they come to Jersey during the season. He lives in Winnipeg in the off season too.

Despite what Parise did, players jumping ship to go play for their hometown really isn't a common occurrence.

Because not many home teams offer 33 million for 2 years+1 day of signing bonuses.

Well test the 8 yr resign with your own team on Travis and see what happens.

Not sure I'd lock him up that long though.

5-6 yrs at 5.5 -6 seems right

I know, but it definitely has some weight.

Especially when family lives there or is from there, that's really the kicker.

Ryan Carter, and his wife, and child live in Minnesota during the winter. Yeah I know it's Ryan Carter, and not Travis Zajac, but still.

Aside from Parise we never had a player leave to go home. Aside from our coach who left to go home, and wound up getting hired as coach up there. Now he's a shell of himself, and had to fire the coach of the JUNIOR team he owns just to get a coaching job for his pathetic self.

Rafalski left, but he would have stayed with the Devils for a slight raise. A slight raise Lou did not wanna give him, and then the Wings gave him a HUGE raise.

I still see potential in Tedenby too. I would love to see him replicate this speed/explosive play.

I know ESPN is a bad word around here... but they suggest that Ottawa needs a vet blue liner. Last time I checked we had a few of those laying around?

Anybody on their roster we can get with Greene/Tallinder prospect/pick?

Funniest thing about that play is that if Rod Pelley didn't have hands like mine, Tedenby never would've gotten that puck back after Fraser's shot.

has Patty talked about playing hockey after this season or expressed any desire at what he wants to do at the seasons end?

I wouldn't say it's "common," but I always wouldn't say it's "uncommon." It really depends on the players/situation/MONEY

I don't think so to be honest, Michaelek, Alfredsson, etc are too expensive and then the other pieces aren't worth it

Considering many of us would be comfortable seeing Tallinder in the pressbox for the whole season, getting anything for him would be worth it. Ottawa has a slew of quality young forwards and forward prospects.

It's actually pretty uncommon amongst all of sports.

I think Ottawa could be a decent trade partner. They do need defense. Condra or Greening would be of interest as top-9 guys. I don't know what the deal would be but they are both NCAA guys that we know Lou loves. I'll be honest, I don't know what the "upside" is on those guys. We're not going to get a top-6 winger for Tallinder straight up, I don't think.

True, I guess it's more speculation amongst the media that a player X wants to play for team X, but it still happens every now and then.

I hope like hell Clarkson doesn't leave. Because if he does what's the bet we will be looking for a carbon copy of him in free agency the next year and offering him 5 million plus. He get's such a bad rap around here. It's almost as if him scoring 30 has been bad for his rep on these boards.

"clarkson is such a tard who can't skate, no way he will score 30 again!!!"

They overrate the **** out of Greening. A Greening for Tallinder deal is very fair, in my opinion. Condra, I'm not too fond of.

Ottawa traded Foligno for Methot in the summer. I can't see them trading another NHL forward for veteran D.

They might be interested in trading a forward prospect for one of our D prospects. The only real D prospect they have is Ceci
