Buckle up folks Spott is about to drop a bomb.A huge deal is about to be finalized that could see 4 to 6 players swap jerseys.Just hammering out a few more details.

With Franky gone to Sudbury, and an overage spot open, we should be able to get Baillie out of London cheap. If we're all in, we will definitely need a solid back up in case Gibson gets hurt! London has no use for 3 goalies!!

Sudburys OA Joel Vienneau goalie is suppose to be part of the deal to Kitchener.

Villemaire(?)
Joel Vienneau

Seems like this trade works for both teams

and maybe less Iafrate?

I hope that's not true!!!!

An OA spot used on a backup goalie is a wasted OA spot. Get a 19 year old backup somewhere else and try and get OA Kantor included in this deal.

One of the things the Rangers are missing is heart. Kantor brings that bigtime. Think Mike Duco all over again but tougher with the gloves off and a little less offense.

Burke said Crescenzi is not coming back, and this was when he was being scratched every game let alone now that he's getting regular playing time in the ECHL.

How about Garret Ross from Saginaw? He's an OA, can score goals, and brings toughness. He would be an upgrade over Czinder and Alberga at OA.

Not a big difference. Burke isn't sending him back.

Now they are saying (unconfimed) that the deal is done at Palazzese, Schmalz with picks for Leivo and Corrado. An announcement to be made tomorrow.

If that's the case, all we need is a #1 center and we're all set.

Would 95LW-Pederson and 94D-Iafrate along with a pick or two be enough to get Vincent Trochek into Kitchener?

I guess no hard feelings from Corrado towards Spott for cutting him from Team Canada WJC.

With the OHL Trade deadline just days away, the Sudbury Wolves announced a major trade with the Kitchener Rangers today which will see six players change jerseys.

Joining the Sudbury Wolves is the league’s best goaltender FRANKY PALAZZESE, 16-year-old forward MATT SCHMALZ and 18-year-old defenceman CORY GENOVESE. The Wolves also picked-up draft picks from the Rangers including draft selections in the 4th, 6th and 7th rounds. The Wolves also acquired two conditional 2nd round draft picks. The Rangers received Sudbury’s 6th and 8th round draft picks along with a conditional 3rd round pick.

Moving over to the Kitchener Rangers’ bench for the balance of the 2012-13 season are Wolves’ veterans JOSH LEIVO, JOEL VIENNEAU and FRANK CORRADO. All three players will complete their OHL careers with the Rangers.
Happy for Franky - he deserves a starting job. Hopefully Schmalz can become the player Spott thought he was when he drafted him. I really like Genovese, as he's one of the few physical defensemen Kitchener had.

HOWEVER, I'm excited to see Leivo and Corrado in action in Ranger Blue!!

Great trade for Kitchener. They're picking up one of the premiere two way defenders in the OHL in Frankie Corrado. They're also picking up arguably the best puckhandler in the OHL in Josh Leivo. He will without a doubt leave you in awe when he has the puck on his stick.

Why would there be hard feelings? Makes no sense. He was among some tough competition and should appreciate the opportunity. Canada couldn't take every Dman that was good enough to go

Awesome trade for Kitchener, I also like the fact we will likely get a high import pick as well in this deal.

What does Spott do next?

Good trade. An impact forward was definitely needed. Like Corrado as well, I thought our goaltending made our D look better than they really are so this should ease some of that pressure too. The value is definitely there, but wish we could have put in another player instead of picks (this old story again of a bare cupboard).

Sherry Bassin has gone on record saying he doesn't want to trade his young players.

Spott pullls the trigger. Nice additions. The West is getting tighter and tighter at the top end.
