The only bright side about Zajac is he doesn't have a fiancee/girlfriend from Winnipeg (that we know of) and he doesn't have as much of an appeal as Minnesota did to Parise, with his father being there.
So on the bright side, he'd do it just to go home, whereas Parise did it go go home, where his girlfriend and parents lived, and where his father played NHL hockey. We just have to hope these guys meet a chick from New Jersey to tie them down here.

That's awesome. good thing with this new CBA is that sign and trades are mildly encouraged with the extra year so some kind of compensation could be had if he leaves.
Ryan Carter, and his wife, and child live in Minnesota during the winter. Yeah I know it's Ryan Carter, and not Travis Zajac, but still.
Aside from Parise we never had a player leave to go home. Aside from our coach who left to go home, and wound up getting hired as coach up there. Now he's a shell of himself, and had to fire the coach of the JUNIOR team he owns just to get a coaching job for his pathetic self.
Rafalski left, but he would have stayed with the Devils for a slight raise. A slight raise Lou did not wanna give him, and then the Wings gave him a HUGE raise.
I don't think so to be honest, Michaelek, Alfredsson, etc are too expensive and then the other pieces aren't worth it
Considering many of us would be comfortable seeing Tallinder in the pressbox for the whole season, getting anything for him would be worth it. Ottawa has a slew of quality young forwards and forward prospects.
I think Ottawa could be a decent trade partner. They do need defense. Condra or Greening would be of interest as top-9 guys. I don't know what the deal would be but they are both NCAA guys that we know Lou loves. I'll be honest, I don't know what the "upside" is on those guys. We're not going to get a top-6 winger for Tallinder straight up, I don't think.
I hope like hell Clarkson doesn't leave. Because if he does what's the bet we will be looking for a carbon copy of him in free agency the next year and offering him 5 million plus. He get's such a bad rap around here. It's almost as if him scoring 30 has been bad for his rep on these boards.

They overrate the **** out of Greening. A Greening for Tallinder deal is very fair, in my opinion. Condra, I'm not too fond of.
