Friedman breaks down "cap-recapture system" or penalties involved if Luongo retires before his current contract expires. So it looks like the new CBA doesn't help or hurt his trade value. Am i reading that correctly? Or he goes on LTIR and no one pays any penalties. hah.

This is kind of random, but what about the Jets? I know Luongo might not approve that type of a move, but it's a bit closer to Florida, young team and they need a #1. Pavelec has been brutal this year in Europe, in the Czech league of all places too. They have no goaltending prospects either. They also have the most stuff that they could trade.

Probably a bit crazy considering they just signed Pavelec but he has been truly brutal in Europe. Brutal last year in the NHL too.

If any of our goalies is traded to the Jets it would be Schneider imo. Moose connection would be huge for them.

Yeah I was thinking about the Jets as a trade partner quite a bit before they re-signed Pavelec. Not sure what their plan is now, but they definitely have some pieces I'd be interested in.

Huge and Raymond should never be part of the same sentence.

Didn't Nonis draft Raymond? He might value him a bit more than most GMs, but it's doubtful.

I don't think that's entirely accurate, he wasn't "brutal" last season, he was inconsistent and played behind an incredibly shoddy defense. There were times he alone held his team together and times when he sucked. Lets be fair here.

True. But he was below average for sure. This season he had below .900 Sv% in the Czech league and I've seen the hockey there, it's not the toughest competition. If we're talking about Bryzgalov, then Pavelec probably makes sense too.

Doug Maclean thinks possibly Stephen Weiss.

Keenan says he won't be going to Toronto.

Would he be a decent return? I'd take it over TO garbage

Weiss & McFarland

For

Luongo and Raymond?

Then change Bozak to McArthur, both are rental's, both fill needs, and McArthur is a much better player
I don't see what need either Bozak or MacArthur fill to be honest.

Weiss + someone like Shore + 2nd, I would personally be happy with.

Just saw your edit, McFarland is garbage. Wouldn't do that deal. You have to keep in mind that Weiss is a rental so they would have to add something worthwhile to the deal.

Fair enough. Haven't kept up with him since his draft. I'm guessing they're big on Petrovic?

I would be happy with that deal (that you mention) or Petrovic instead of Shore (or another prospect of that ilk) under the condition that we could get Weiss re-signed.

I'm hoping that we could resign Weiss and buy out/trade Booth at year end

I like this a lot. Weiss is ideal. He plays centre and wing and also has previous chemistry with Booth. Not a fan of McFarland though maybe Petrovic instead?

LOL, some Leafs fans don't want Luongo because they might have a $2 mil cap penalty 10 years from now if Luongo retires early.

$2 mil cap penalty 10 years from now (when the cap could be $80+ mil) > 5+ years of high quality goaltending

Priorities...

I really hope he doesn't go to Toronto.
