So does Alabama's Lacy always do the sign of the cross when he scores, or did he just do it to mock Notre Dame?

Wow... on the replay it showed how close that was to another Bama touchdown. The ball was overthrown by about a foot.

I've been complaining about this the last few years.

We should not have taken Laughton with our first last year.

Maatta, Matheson, Schmaltz, Skjei were all available at 20.

It's already biting us in the ass. We only have 1 or 2 D men that are good enough to play on our team now. Gustafsson and Bourdon. Gustafsson will be a good top 4 D man but Bourdon is useless. 3 concussions in less than a year now.

We have no real goalie prospects.

We need to hold onto our damn picks

Too bad Philly pissed off Nashville. We could've had an agreement. Poile will draft and develop a surplus of defensemen. Homer will draft and develop a surplus of forwards. We make trades.

But nope. Snider had to go and be a dick.

TMI, did you follow the NHL before the Preds came to Nashville?

I don't get why people think it's him being a dick.

It's allowed in the CBA. The GMs having a 'gentleman's understanding' not to do it is basically collusion.

Well, being allowed and it being a dick move are not mutually exclusive things. What he did was allowed, sure, but he intentionally structured a deal with 6 years and $68m in "signing bonuses" (really?) because he figured Nashville was just some poor, bottom of the barrel team financially who would be handcuffed. It was a dick move. A lot of times business moves are dick moves designed to take advantage of weaker people/companies/franchises.

If it puts the team in a bad place, then don't match it.

GMs can have an unwritten rule that offer sheets are dick moves. Don't players have unwritten rules all of the time?

That's the entire point. You are saying it isn't a dick move because it's perfectly legal. I am saying it is a dick move because it's essentially saying, "I bet they can't match this without ruining themselves. Let's do it!"

btw the Preds have one billionaire and several multi-millionaires as owners. When W. Brett Wilson said, "Some teams drastically underestimated the depths of Nashville's pockets" I laughed for reals.

Collusion
But not illegal collusion. And obviously it isn't all that effective of an agreement anyway.

The burden of proof would be on the NHLPA, and the Shea Weber offer sheet would pretty much ruin their case off the bat.

It is illegal collusion.

The mlb was forced to pay 280 million in collusion charges for similar things.

Of course there are going to be a few GMs every so often that go against the grain. That doesn't mean it's not collusion.

Burke's statements on it pretty much let you know that there is collusion going on.

What a player is worth to one team isn't the same as what they are worth to another team. To whine that your player got offered more than you wanted to give to him is ridiculous.

Seven offer sheets were matched or accepted between the last CBA and this one. Those are just the ones that were actually signed by the player. We don't know about the ones that are rejected outright.

An average of one offer sheet per season? So much for proof of any agreement.

It isn't that there is an agreement in place. It's that GMs know that if they offer sheet a player, especially a star or superstar, they will make enemies.
