Yep. And we haven't fixed that problem.

We are just hoping young guys step up.

I'd feel better if Barry Trotz was the HC. I think we have the talent to score effectively enough, but we don't have the defensive talent (on both ends of the ice) to play an up-tempo counter attack system with as you said, poor D personnel for that...Lavi's not changing.

Honestly, hope is all we got.

2010: Leighton
2011: Bob/Boucher/Leighton
2012: Injuries and Rookies

that's what I attribute our last few finishes to, and without Lavi we wouldnt have even made the playoffs in 2010 let alone making the Finals.

If we suck but don't get top 2, I'd say get Ristolainen. I'm sure Droiun or Monahan might be there... but yeah haha. Big kid, Finnish (we like drafting them), right shot, can play the PP and is good defensively.

Where do realistically expect us to draft?

Why him? He's being listed a lot in the middle of the 1st round.

No he isn't.

All 3 of the last 3 months of rankings have him in the top 10.

The last 2 months have been him holding steady at 7

The system has to change. The Kings played a defense first system and it won them a cup. Same thing with the Bruins.
The Kings and Bruins both have/had superior goaltending then what the Flyers have.

We have beaten this system topic into the ground enough. Lavi is a good coach. I fail to see why some people around here fail to realize that. I think everyone pretty much agreed that whoever came out of the Flyers/Pens series wasnt making it past the next round. I know you dont want to hear it, but injuries cut down this team last year. I know some think injuries are no excuse but when you have 11 guys go under the knife it says something.
Again I ask if you fire Lavi who do you bring in?
John Stevens?

Wasn't even the best on his team. Seemed like whenever the opposition put any sort of pressure on him, he'd cough the puck up.

If we picked that high I'd rather have Drouin. Think he might be the best in the draft class.

Is this thread real life?

Ridiculous amount of negativity. Lavi may not be perfect but by god, he plays an entertaining style of hockey. I'd rather win 7/10 games with that than win 9/10 games trapping. He's done us well in difficult circumstances. Calm the ****** down guys.

Also, I think this is a massive year for two people and our entire fortunes rest on them. Obviously the first is Bryz but the second is Coburn. It's also going to be good for Kimmo that we've shaved off 30 games.

I think we will have a great season, but the draft still interests me, and if we don't do well, draft a damn good player.

Not Stevens but someone who understands that you have to win games 2-1, 3-2 instead of 6-5. Lavi either doesn't get it or is too stubborn to change.

There's no way this team is picking in the top half of the draft.

Lavi has had steaming **** in net every year he has been here. He's not a defensive guy, but he's nowhere near as bad as you think.

Lavi Goals Against:

'12 - 21st out of 30
'11 - 11th out of 30
'10 - 14th out of 30
'09 - 8th out of 30
'08 - 25th out of 30
'07 - 19th out of 30
'06 - 18th out of 30 (Won Cup)

Each year has a story for it. Otherwise, it looks all over the place.

No blame for Bryzaster? The guy was horrible, not below average but downright horrible for 95% of last season. He goes to the KHL and is a third string goaltender only to be cut. It is necessary to rid ourselves of this bum and fast. If I were Snider I would get rid of him ASAP. Keeping him around is basically throwing in the towel and negating any chance we have for a cup with Giroux in his prime. Mark my words, Bryzaster will have another horrible season this year, we will make the playoffs but it will have zero to do with Bryzaster's ability. I am willing to bet that for the minimal games that Leighton will play he will still end up with better stats they bryzaster this season. Also Leighton will see action in the playoffs because rest assured Bryzaster will be pulled. The guy is a below averge to horrible goaltender with mental problems who was a product of the system in Phoenix, look no further than Mike Smith who is putting up the exact same numbers and I am willing to bet not many people would be willing to sign him for 9 years. PH forced by Snider had to go and get a goalie, not taking into account his being waived, back up for the ducks, being thrown under the bus by his teammates for his locker room cancer demenor while in Phoenix was swept under the rug because of a great definsive system under Dave Tippet that masked Bryzasters true ability. To make matter worse offer the guy 9 years. You give guys like Lundquist, Luongo, Miller 9 year contracts, you dont give Illya Bryzgalov a 9 year contract thats just stupid and a mistake that a NHL GM should never make. It really is Holmgrens worst signing by far. Makes the Pronger contract look like picture of beauty right now.

So our problems have been everything else except Bryzgalov?

And the 3rd year? Just injuries and rookies? nothing to do with the play of Bryzgalov, or was his play was only because of injuries and rookies?
