Just checked the PP stats

I don't particularly get into stats but what mislead my perception was our dominant season and well timed PPGs.

I think it just looks better compared to 2 years ago with Richie centering that powerplay
If I remember correctly the PP started off incredibly awful- something like 5% for a bit. I think it came in clusters- there were times it clicked, but there were definitely a lot of times where it was just pathetic.

Luckily we were so dominant at ES. Top 3 in the league if I remember correctly in ES GF/GA

I was hoping for something the new CBA that either outlawed Rangers PP's or made every opponent Philadelphia. Either way, problem solved.

We should put our most effective player in the power play... Henrik?

I don't see him getting more than a 2 year deal. 2 years, 4 mil total. Something like that. He'll need to prove it for more than 1 year to get the big payday.
No, no I'm with you on that one. I was just disputing the idea that he doesn't have much offensive upside. I think talk of 4 year, $3m+ deals are on the ridiculous side.

Training camp hasn't started yet, this is just the group of NHL players getting together and skating, much like what happens every early September before official training camp starts

Though I'm kind of surprised that they're allowing the players to use the practice rink since the CBA hasn't been officially ratified yet

He's not. The activities going on right now were apparently organized by Brad Richards. It's not an official, team-sanctioned thing. Just some of the players getting ready for camp.

Which I think is a testament to the team's unity and desire to get back on the ice and finish what they started last season.

Restricted free agent Del Zotto said his representatives and Rangers GM Glen Sather are restarted talks ...

...but said not to read too much into the fact that he was the ice with his teammates today. He just feels it’s necessary to start working on team chemistry.

...

“It’s not a normal circumstance with half the season gone,” Del Zotto said. “I’m in the same situation we were before. We’re just trying to get a deal that’s fair for both sides. I know I’m ready to play as soon as possible.

“It’s just like CBA negotiations, as long as we’re in the same room…” Del Zotto added. “You want something fair for both sides. Hopefully it’ll be sooner rather than later.”

...

“Who knows, that’s a couple of days away,” Del Zotto said. “I’m taking it one day at a time. I’m getting ready to skate again tomorrow.”

Dolan was willing to let them play there for a very low price... the cost?

Spicy buffalo wings and a Big Gulp of Mountain Dew for him... and an ice cream sundae for Sather... extra hot fudge and rainbow sprinkles...

A source told ESPNNewYork.com that Del Zotto was previously seeking a multiyear deal for more than $3 million a year, although it is not immediately clear if that stance has softened given the time-sensitive situation and Del Zotto's lack of leverage.
http://espn.go.com/new-york/nhl/stor...k-rangers-soon

In a long term deal,DZ is worth his asking price.

DZ is months away from salary arbitration. He will have all of the leverage. The Rangers need him in the line-up. This is not a 20 day training camp and an 82 game season. All of the systems remained status quo. Larry Brooks wrote in September about DZ taking a chance not signing under the old CBA because salary arbitration and free agency might change with a smaller cap. Nothing changed.

If it takes 3+ a year then so be it. This is probably the best chance we're gonna get anyway.

3M if its a pretty decent term deal (at least 3 years) and I'm ok with it.

I would be unhappy if he got $3m, but if $500k makes or breaks an offseason, we've got bigger problems. Wouldn't be a huge deal.

I'd be okay with a 2.5-2.75 cap for 2 years and 2.75-3 cap for 3+ years.

2.875m for four years and try to get as much on this years cap (within new 50% variance rule) as possible as I think we still have some cap room.

Pretty sure it's still the average salary, or atlas I haven't heard otherwise. So I don't think you can 'put more on this year'

He should get a 2 year deal, ~2.5 million/season. Let him develop and prove himself and if he continues his play he will get paid on a longer deal next time around when Gaborik most likely leaves/takes a paycut. It keeps him in RFA as well if you keep the deal shorter.
