What, you didn't expect players to sign overseas during the lockout?
I would have given it a 100% chance Semin would have signed in the KHL.
Yeah, this is the least surprising news in a while. Did he even leave Russia this offseason?
And if the main board topic is correct, it sounds like the KHL has to honor the contracts until April 30 of next year, but every contract comes with an out clause at the end of the NHL lockout.

He's under contract with an NHL club, there has to be.
Well, so was Radulov.
I think Semin will be back in the NHL when the lockout ends. If he really preferred to play in Russia he would have already signed there during the summer and without a contract.
Isn't there new rules that the KHL and NHL will honor each other contracts? (post Radulov) so Semin would be forced out of the KHL once the new CBA is signed?

Radulov had nothing to do with a lockout, he signed a three year deal with Ufa. So there would be no need for an out clause.
He also signed the deal before the agreement between the NHL and the KHL was in place, so he really did nothing wrong.

Yeah, what I meant was that Radulov didn't exactly honor his NHL contract when he signed to the KHL. I did not know there was any agreement currently in place between the two leagues. If there isn't, Semin (if he wanted to) could pull off the same trick and just stay overseas once the lockout ends.

Yes. Don't worry, he'll be back with the Canes when the lockout is up, as long as we don't lose the full season, and I don't think we will. I suspect the players miss two paychecks at most before it's over.

There is an agreement now. Both sides have to honor each other's contracts.
