Basically this is the list we can choose from if we want to add another defenseman.

Colin White
Randy Jones
Mike Commodore
Jim Vandermeer

AHL:
Cam Barker
Brent Regner
Nathan Paetsch

Paul Ranger

Overseas:

As per Staple, Martinek is skating with the Isles today. Likely to get a tryout.

Yeah, he will probably get injured in the first game, but nothing lost by bringing him in, hopefully in addition to someone else.

I like the idea of Martinek trying out even if Visnovsky winds up coming back. It would be great if Radek can still hack it in the NHL.

He may get injured in training camp.

Always liked Radek...and I always wished he'd stay healthy. He was always a good, responsible d-man for us. At least, for the 20 games he'd be healthy.

Wrap Radek up in bubble wrap...and put him on as our 6th/7th dman. I'm good with that.

Not bad at all if he can stay healthy he is very serviceable and smart dman....always liked him on island and wouldn't mind seeing him back as a 6th or 7th dman

Maybe Martinek can talk some sense into Visnofsky. I believe they are both Slovaks.

I would like to get Mara, he adds a little snarl to the defense, good hitter. Foster would be great to have as well.

Wouldn't mind Marty one bit, but not as a Vis replacement.

He played for Columbus last season, but I think he was out almost all season with a leg injury.

A good guy on the ice and in the lockerroom. Hopefully, he can stay healthy if he sticks.

Problem is, there is no Vis replacement out there. Look at the available list...not one top-4 guy out there. There could be trades available, but I don't think this is the year to start moving young talent out for improvements. Too much uncertainty and too many holes.

Glad to hear Martinek is getting a tryout. One of my favorite Isles and always gave 110% when he was healthy. Just wish the guy had better luck with injuries.

He played the first 7 games then I'm pretty sure it was a concussion that held him out for the rest of the year. I don't know...he has knee issues as we know and now concussion problems, I don't think his body would be able to last even a few weeks, especially given how each regular season game will have a higher intensity level than normal.

What'll happen is that they'll sign Marty to a one year deal only to see him get injured the following day getting out of bed missing the entire season.

in a short season he may be Good to go, and why not, the guy was a solid Islander, let him play here for anither season or two, he isnt going to command a big paycheck and if he's healty its a bonus.

I love Radek!!!

You forgot Jon Sim...he's long overdue for a re-return.

Outside of sarcastically saying, "Oh gee...Radek's hurt again...big surprise"...I don't remember frequently saying, "What the hell are you thinking Radek?! Stupid play...ugh!" When he's healthy...he was always a smart player out there defensively. He would just have the absolute worst luck.
